The yeti of speakers, wish I could have came up with a product that has a 97% profit margin

I use my gen 2 as a boat speaker instead of replacing my actual boat speakers and it works great.
A good use for these speakers. Found that marine stereos / amps seem to fail prematurely for whatever reason and cause electrical problems.

My wife got her turlte box half off somehow so it was $200. It's pretty awesome though.

My buddy kept bragging about his last weekend about how water proof it was, and we eventually talked him into to throwing into to pool.
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t work anymore.

I redneck'ed one as well. 24v battery lasts forever, and I put in a small buck converter to step it down for the phone charger.

Is this the man-equivalent of the Stanley cup fad for women that happened a year or two ago?
I would say more like a Yeti. It has some validity as its a great product, albeit the Turtle Box sticker contributes massively to the cost.
A Stanley is a fricking cup.

That is bad arse. Do you have some sort of heat sink? I would imagine that amp and converter get pretty hot?

When I eventually get a boat again this is what I’m doing

A boat is a worse purchase than the Turtle Box

A friend of mine has built a few of these. Seems like his all in cost + time spent doesn't make it that much cheaper than just buying a turtle box. But if you enjoy projects like that more power to you. Full disclosure: I have a turtle box and like it a lot. All I had to do was open the box and charge it.

Oh I definitely just like to fiddle with stuff. My brother made one first and it sounded great, so I decided to copy it. I think I'm around $150 and maybe an hour of time in this turdlebox.
As far as heat, no clue. I've had it over a month and no issues so far.

I like to build crap. Would love a detailed schematic or some pics. Got a 4th of July beach trip coming up...
