Story after story of Karens/Male Karens who were wholly unprepared and don’t know what to do because the H.E.B. is closed. One just was in tears because they finally got power back after over 60 hours...

Baws, use this as an excuse to buy a modest generator and some propane heaters.

Meanwhile Luiz my yard guy called me to see if I had any work for him around the house today

Yeah, reading the comments under the AOC tweet the other day was shocking. They think the entire situation in TX would have been wholly avoided had the feds been running the grid there. They act like the federal government is amazing at everything they do and we would be living in some sort of utopia is everything was ran or regulated by the feds.

It's really eye opening and ridiculous. It makes me wonder what sort of reality those types of people are living i .

I mean, 2.5 days in 25F'ish degree weather is pretty fricking miserable. I doubt they had a campfire in their apartment.

Maybe some of those folks have young children or newborns or medically frail family members. I wouldn’t be so quick to judge others dealing with a tough situation.

I used to listen to NPR quite often before Trump was elected president. There used to be at least some quality science, cultural, historical, etc stories during the week on there.

But starting in 2016, it was all Trump, Orange Man, white man bad ALL THE TIME. And it still is, even though he's out of office.

They were always woke, but they went woke HARD after 2016.

Absolutely amazes Scruffy that people don’t have a baseline level of preparedness.

That seems like it should be common knowledge.

Absolutely this. I used to be a frequent listener.

Look, I’m not heartless. To those in the most dire of straits, I would hope they planned and stayed with someone if necessary. I don’t think EVERY one of these callers is freezing in a one-bedroom apartment because they’re putting their money towards medical school...

I will add that every caller mentioned they didn’t prepare because they didn’t realize it would be this cold. Didn’t the State warn us? Reminds me of the people who disregarded the evacuation order and remained in NOLA during Katrina for no good reason.

One man called and said he and his wife had to throw away all the food in their refrigerator. I’m like “just put it outside my dude”

Get some blankets
My Grandpa told me about how when they got cold my Great Grandma would put so many quilts on him & my uncle at night they couldn’t turn over from the weight
They didn’t have power, water or an inside toilet until he was in elementary school

Ditto. If I tune in now, I expect batshit insanity and it only amuses me in the smallest of doses.

Last time I listened, I tuned in midway through an interview with a woman from Snopes.com. Until they said who she was at the end, I honestly thought she was some kind of Communist Party spokesperson.
