If they'd come out with a Tundy that had diesel and could put out 925 lb-ft of torque then I'd consider a Toyota.

Ram? Decent grocery getter I guess, until your rods and transmission blow out

You're ignoring hard data because your Toyota just has to be better, even if the numbers don't show it. How would you like me to describe it?

Tundra. They are just better built trucks. I bought a 2012 and it rides and drives like a brand new one. It was my first Toyota, but when I do buy another, it will be a Tundra!

No you didnt. There is no $7k discount on Platinum/1794 models (only tundra that goes up to $49k) without dealership being around $3k below cost, so I would need to see what dealership took a $3k lower without hassle or haggle.

You don't need 925 lb-ft of torque, unless you for whatever reason have a need to pull an entire house off of its slab. That much torque isn't even usable on the road unless you're going at least 50 mph.

Toyota is more reliable, especially if you plan on having it for a while, but I think the Fords look better.

I am considering a Black Bayou Sierra at the moment -- it's my personal favorite.

The OB here, and many F150 forums where users complain about issues with it.

You talking about the issue when they first came out in the trucks 6 years ago? Because that's long since gone and fixed, and I haven't seen much mention of ecoboost issues on the forums lately.

Can't fathom how Ford sells so many F150s.

I'd say they do a great job of marketing. Also, 'Merica.

This is beyond wrong.

Unless your only criteria is cost, which I would agree with if all you care about is purchase cost. There is a reason why Rams are so cheap.

If your number one concern is resale and longevity, you aren't going to beat the Tundra. However, I did tons of research and what I found was the Tundra had a rougher ride, worse gas mileage, and was more expensive than the F150.

Hauling a skid steer or small excavator between job sites, I'll take a diesel with as much a torque as it can muster. We have a couple of 3500s with gas engines and it's down right scary to get them out on the interstate with a 5 ton trailer and a small skid steer. One of the first things I did when I took over my current role was make sure we stopped buying work trucks with gas engines.

Is there anything besides anecdotes from Tundra owners to back this up?

Check listings and look at prices.

Years and years of reliability and high resale value.

I said this earlier in the thread, I have an F150 because I didn't want to spend the extra money to get a comparable Tundra. My truck has been fine so far (after getting a hose replaced after I had the truck for a week).

I think any Toyota or Ford truck will last fine as long as you take care of it.

And does the f150 not have this?

That's pretty much the bottom line I'm getting at. The people saying Fords will only last 5-6 years are being preposterous.
