Very interesting list.
I wish we had a real maritime museum.
Thanks for another great thread.

It’s a shame they don’t have an Asian museum, for your mother. I am sure she adores the annual Asian fest tho.

It’s the WWII museum and then everything else is far behind.

My favorite was to the Bunny Bread factory. At the end of the trip they'd give you a loaf of hot bread right off the conveyor belt. That sh*t was DELICIOUS!
Those were the days

Friend,
I am uncertain how you are intending to receive it. I do not know your location. Someone intimated you live in Mexico. I would not be opposed to international shipping fees, although there could be delay and tariffs. I have already VIP shipped eleven copies to the Continental USA.
To those criticizing my selections, these are TulaneLSU's Top 10. You are free to form your own top 10. I've given reasons for the exclusion of the pharmacy and back otown museums, in the introduction. I staunchly believe my top four are correct.

One of the cooler things you've posted
I actually agree with you on this. But that still doesn't make me want to fight TulaneLSU

The new Children’s Museum recently opened in City Park, but I have not yet been. It may deserve a spot on this list. I will attempt to visit it in the coming weeks, if I can gather enough money for entrance fees.

Anyway, there are two enormous McCrady pieces in the sanctuary that I believe the real estate developers got in the deal. Had I known these pieces were included, I would have bid on the building. If anyone would like to put me in contact with the owners now, so that I could save these marvelous murals, let me know.

I got married at NOMA, so that'll always be #1 on my list.

WWII museum isn’t #1? List is shite.

You should visit the new Children's Museum and update your list.
I was extremely disappointed in the new children’s museum. Sure it’s pretty, but the old one had more stuff in it

. I was annoyed, almost to anger, that the author of this collection included the Rollergirls in the professional sports section. These people are not professional athletes nor is what they've done historic.
Point of contention: roller girls were athletic entertainment akin to American Pro Wrestling...
Which spawned the ACTUAL sport of Roller Derby.
So, I think it is historic...

You beat me to it. Also, for someone scared to cross a bridge, how did you get to Laura? Other than that, I agree with the list, just not the order. The HNOC is good, but the exhibits are not always up to snuff. Poor lighting made the Storyville exhibit last year very run of the mill. It is a great resource for research.

Friend,
This was back when the Algiers Ferry was allowing vehicles on it. We also took the Jackson Ave Ferry that brought us to Gretna. That was closer to the house, but in a precarious neighborhood at the time. I believe it shut its planks in 2009.
Although I fear the River itself, as long as I'm not on the bridge, I can face that fear. Crossing in the ferry wasn't my favorite thing to do, but it's how I was able to visit the West Bank, and see some of its sites, like Mardi Gras World, Lafitte National Park, Laura, and the other plantations upriver.
Now, if I cross, I have to go all the way to Chalmette with Mother, which is fine, and allows us time at the National Cemetery. The ferry there continues to allow cars. Hopefully that doesn't change any time soon.
Have you been to THNOC since the renovation last year? I shared your opinion. Until these renovations. It's bar none the greatest museum in America outside Washington DC. It's amazing.
Friendly,
TulaneLSU
P.S. To the dalcop who posted just behind me who thinks the Saints Museum is still in Kenner and is a "legit" museum: it isn't worth a new post to respond to you, so this is for you here. First, it hasn't been in Kenner in over a decade. Second, while enjoyable, its subject matter is an insignificant game. Therefore, it has no place on this list, or even in the discussion. I feel you have cheapened my entire thread by the suggestion.

Are you fn nutz? No way is New Orleans even comparable to DC or NY wrt museums.
New Orleans has like 2 legit museums. Saint's hall of fame in Kenner and Mardi Gras world on west bank are a joke.
Who are you? You some schmuck who was laid of by the Times Picayune?

The recently opened HNOC facility on Royal Street is the Brulatour House. It has more history than most realize, aside from being the former home of WDSU. It has one of the most famous, and most painted courtyards in the FQ.
Jules Brulatour, who lived there at one time, was an early pioneer of motion pictures, and rumor/legend has it that he was the true inspiration for Citizen Kane, not William Randolph Hearst.
You are right that the sports exhibit is excellent. They have exhibits on the development of the Superdome, the Saints, the history of Sugar Bowl / Tulane Stadium, and New Orleans' short-lived USFL team the Breakers, who had Marcus Dupree. I visited the afternoon of January 13, just before going to the National Championship game. Thanks for calling attention to this cool new museum. It definitely belongs in the conversation as a top museum in the city.
