A similar signature that reached further East and South once forced me and my buddies to abandon my car in the parking lot of Club South. We had to trudge through 18 inch snow 2 miles to my apartment on 17th street, just up the hill from UAB. We then proceeded to call in to work for the next four days and helped buy the local little grocery store out of beer until all they had left was wine. We then helped buy out all the wine while learning how to snow sled on plastic trash can lids and fiberglass roofing panels.

TYFYS Birmingham blizzard of 1993.

How bad is it supposed to be in Meridian tonight? I gotta work there tomorrow and was just thinking about riding up there and getting a room tonight. Should be better weather than Mobile, right?

I think you’ll be ok staying in Meridian. Just keep an eye on the radar to see best time to drive. Meridian is showing a Level 1 risk for tornadoes. Mobile is a level 3. Bad weather should be getting to Mobile tonight. Safe travels.

Not great to hear but thank you for the info. I have a house up for sale in that area with big pecan trees in front and back that I worry about.

increasing, but fairly light so far, the warm front just made it through so the temps are rising right now, winds should increase significantly as low gets closer

You can see the narrow corridor of moisture that is taking shape. Bay City has a dew of 69° and Houston is just at 55° right now. Port Arthur is at 51° and Lake Chuck is at 46°. Farther down in the Corpus area they have dews in the low 70s.

With the shear in place, it won't take much to make things spin.

That storm near Victoria may be the one to watch early on. It is in the area that the HRRR kept hitting on in UD Helicity swaths. It is fairly discrete and could be a problem down the line.
