Seems the system has quieted down a bit for the moment

With a lull in tornado warnings we may be transitioning into more of a wind threat. We've outrun our surface based instability. Tornadoes are definitely still possible but wind damage concerns will increase moving forward.

Dry air isn't just a topic for our hurricane threads. Dust off the bingo card as dry air makes an appearance tonight. Dry air at the lower levels wrapping into the surface low will entrain on the back side of the squall line this evening. This dry air entrainment will increase downdraft speed through evaporative cooling as the precip falls. This coupled with precipitation loading dragging down the very fast 70 kt low level jet is why wind is a concern. These fast downdrafts hit the ground and spread out as fast winds.

SPC increases wind damage chances into SE Louisiana.

There was a confirmed tornado in Ragley about 30 minutes ago. Roofs off of houses and lots of damage. It passed by my brother's house but he is fine. He is out helping people and said it's pretty bad.

Keep us updated please.

Crazy how severe weather has been a weekly event this winter. I know it’s not uncommon to get severe in the winter months, but the frequency this year seems uncommon

Yea dealing with hurricane season is one thing, but now having to deal with weekly tornado threats as well is too much.

Yeah wind threat starting to crank up

Tornadoes threat still closer to the coast in that tiny pocket of instability.

Seems lately the Deep South never gets a break from bad weather it’s become a constant thing. Record heat in may and June, record cold in October, hurricanes and tornadoes the other months. Really makes my job difficult when I rely heavily on weather patterns

Can’t believe we don’t have flood warnings up here. It’s been a constant downpour for hours

The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office is responding to damage reports from a possible tornado.

The damage happened on Highway 171 in Ragley.

No injuries are reported at this time.

One home reportedly is completely destroyed, and a second house was also hit, but it’s unclear what the damage to that home is.

Several downed power lines and trees, as well as flooding in low lying roads have been reported.

More than two homes are damaged from what I was told. The area it hit is pretty populated by Ragley standards. Several subdivisions and a mobile home park

In regards to the Ragley tornado. There is a picture in the link. A Ragley FB page said several homes were destroyed along 171 between Ragley and the flag store (not sure what that is maybe someone here knows)

That one was confirmed by radar. The debris signature on it was huge.

The Flag store is that big Exxon on the Parish Line between 171 and Perkins Ferry. People call it that because of the huge American flag they have out front.

One of my friends insisted on traveling from Little Rock to Fayetteville today, then is staying the night in fort smith. They have to be back to LR early tomorrow morning for a meeting…. may be messy according to the forecast.

It’s slush raining hard in Little Rock. It’s miserable and my kids just want snow.
