That's the problem.... as mentioned above, the timing on this thing lines up perfectly for when I'm taking a cruise out of NOLA
You booked a cruise in the Gulf of Mexico in September?

7 PM update tonight from the NHC
quote:
1. A broad area of low pressure located just west of the Cabo Verde
Islands is producing disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity.
Little development, if any, of this disturbance is expected for the
next couple of days, but environmental conditions are likely to
become more conducive for a tropical depression to form by Tuesday
or Wednesday while the system moves westward across the tropical
Atlantic Ocean.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.

I plan to drive from Houston to Miami and back around the 21st through the 23rd. Should I just stay home?

the 5-day percentage of development was actually lowered to 60% earlier

That's very similar to the run it did a few days ago where it had a strong system pushing out to sea earlier.
Yesterday looked like it had it on a classic Cape Verde system historical track.

This system, as well as a lot of those that come across from Africa, pass the most western point of Africa. On that point is a small town called Dakar.
Tacko Fall is from Dakar. I have no evidence of any kind of link, or any reason to suspect his involvement, but will be keeping an eye on him.
