He'll probably give a very a political answer and say "I'll leave it up to each individual state". That way he doesn't step on any toes.

Would you get behind it if he took the feds off of it, and allowed each state to vote, with each shop in the state giving a tax to education and senior citizen support..etc?

Even if it's legalized employers retain the "right to know", right to screen their employees, and terminate for positive results. If you have a real job, legalization changes nothing.

What? You mean like a doctor, lawyer, architect or stock broker? Being able to legally purchase something that is far less harmful than alcohol makes too much sense.

Not great but not bad. Way more reasonable than any other GOPer except Rand Paul. Probably better than Hillary.

A lot of "real jobs" don't conduct random drug tests.

Most shitty hourly jobs do though.

I drink a glass of wine with dinner most nights. What's harmful about that?

Inebriation tests for cannabis are totally understandable. If someone operates equipment that is extremely expensive, or potentially dangerous, you want to know if someone is under the influence.

Under the current paradigm of urinalysis (or even hair-testing), it goes beyond workplace effectiveness and into judgements about personal character and reliability. Now, I don't think that getting stoned is any reflection on a fellow, but I understand if a company might view otherwise, and they can provide employment in the manner they see fit.

As someone else said, though, once you get to a certain 'level' within a company, you probably aren't being tested at all, unless you work in certain sectors.

Nothing. I love wine. Moderation is the key with anything. The societal cost of alcohol abuse are so much bigger. People die from alcohol poisoning and really bad alcoholics can even die from withdrawals. Alcohol is a depressant and weed just makes you happy and hungry.

Exactly. Most of the highest paying jobs don't drug test at all.

People die from driving too fast. It's an empty argument that makes sense only to the pro-legalization crowd. Alcohol can be enjoyed without impairment, narcotics cannot.
