Donny would get a lot of the disaffected Bern supporters if he came to advocate legalization, or at least explicit federal acceptance of state legalization, if he secures the nomination. This would enhance a lot of crossover appeal, especially against Clinton.

That a lot of "if" and Donald Trump isn't going to openly say that he supports legalization because it flies in the face of so much of his rhetoric.

It's a small wild card subject though, if it helps more than it hurts when weighed out, dont see why he would be opposed. Especially if it makes money.

I haven't heard much on his end regarding cannabis specifically. The closest thing to 'drug warrior' rhetoric I'm aware of are his comments regarding illegal immigrants, which I think were made in the context of immigration and not on drugs.

If he begins to frame it from a business perspective (which would very much be in line with his rhetoric), he could possibly deliver it in such a way that it appeals to many.

Getting another shitty president to show these young brats is hoping for a negative, to spite someone else. It works.

I don't consider it a "small wild card subject". Mainly because it's connected to so many other hot button issues that I'm sure Trump has been told to avoid (Alternative healthcare options, The US prison system etc.)

He'll probably give a very a political answer and say "I'll leave it up to each individual state". That way he doesn't step on any toes.

I truly believe that cannabis decriminalization and regulated trade could save the American economy and stave off the next housing crisis and be a solution to the student loan problems the country is facing.

Which, to be fair, is really the most palatable position, other than widespread federal loosening of laws (federal regulation of the industry would be...frightful).

Any appeals to 10th amendment preservation of rights will not be met with discontent, at least for me.

h. Too many old school republicans and democrats that think it's the devil, unfortunately

Someone post the poll showing the percentage of Trump supporters that are college educated compared to the ones that aren't.

The huge percentage of uneducated white males supporting this clown is a joke

Is there something wrong with being white, or being uneducated?

The only candidate on the GOP side that even entertained the idea was Rand Paul during his second to last debate.

You'll find paleoconservative/libertarian Republicans who call for decreased and/or elimination of government interference with cannabis, mostly giving power to the states. To my knowledge, none advocate federal legislation to create a legal framework for cultivation, distribution, and retail.

ETA: These are in Congress, not running for President, for the record. The only Republican (former) candidate who espoused something like this was Rand Paul.

I would love to see Ted Cruz discuss decriminalization of marijuana. That dude would talk in circles.
