Never was a huge fan but it used to be halfway decent to visit and do a few fun things.

Now

New York man, 45, shot dead on subway: Cops hunt three suspects who fled after attack
Police said the 45-year-old was shot in the torso on a southbound D train at the 182-183 street station in the Bronx just after 5am.

Not really, it’s rapidly devolving to be worse than that era.

Than the 80s? I don't know bro. Times Square was next level back then.

I hope all the tourists in Times Square and Central Park were able to avoid it. I've been to the Bronx maybe 4 times in over 20 years. I had to "commute for a few years to a job across from Columbia University...took me a good 30 mins from Midtown. This is like complaining about New Orleans by trumpeting a shooting in Westwego. Crime is bad, I'll give you that, but NYC is far from a shithole. But the OT thrives on that Pace Piquante Sauce punchline .

Was there for two weeks over the summer, never felt unsafe anywhere or on the train, but I guess that could have been me.

Amazing what radical left wing policies do to a place..I went back in 2011 and enjoyed it. Manhattan that is, had a good time and it was clean and felt safe then, even the subways….

You hung out and did fun things in “Little Dominica”? 181st Street is up by the George Washington Bridge, past Harlem and far away from what most here would consider a part of the city that a visitor would go to.

The Bronx has always been a shithole. Only time you would "visit" anywhere close to where this happened is if you went to the Zoo, Arthur Ave, or a Yankees game.

I don't think most people realize just how large NYC is. You could multiply the population of New Orleans by 10, and that would just be 1 borough.

Throw a rock in any direction, you'd hit a group of tranny hookers, a serial killer, half a dozen gang members, 2 adult theaters, 3 rapists, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Even Rolling Stone called it the sleaziest place in America.
