but there should have been lateral bridging in place supporting it laterally.

You can see an end diaphragm in the adjacent span

imagine if that happened at an i10 overpass in BR

Fortunately, no truck in BR would be moving fast enough to do any real damage to the bridge.

Hard to believe it could do that much damage to that bridge. I would have thought it more likely to just crush The boom lift flat as it went under.

It ripped the jib boom and basket off of the lift. It ripped the rotating control unit with the counterweights right off of the base. Sheer on that has to be phenomenally high

When they figure how fast he was going it is going to be big trouble.

Yes, but, did he WILLFULLY cause that damage?

AND, how do we know it was a man and not a woman?

Will that be covered by his auto policy or general liability?

Only one company with green, sunbelt. Wonder if it was outside hauler or not. Id guess outside hauler since most trucks owned by rental companies have dovetail trailers and would easily fit that height, If fully stowed.

Edit nvm, looks like sunbelt truck. I dunno how the f that happens unless it's was a 135-180' boom

I think the boom must not have been completely collapsed. 14'4" is pretty high.!3'6" is a standard semi trailer height.

If it wasn't collapsed that means the basket would have to have been higher than the jib to hit the bridge. That's just not plausible. I'm thinking it was one of the bigger booms they knew was over height but was trying to make a rent and took a chance.

Some of the other news services had more pictures of it. Judging from some of the parts laying there, I am guessing it was a model 600S. The basket, jib boom size, and side panel covers all match up.

That being said, when everything is boomed down, it has a max height of about 8'6". It was on a low boy trailer that I am guessing was less than 3'6" tall.

He should have had plenty of clearance if it was a 600S.
