Meet the Multix, India’s Newest Pickup Truck With Extra Charge.
Targeted at small businessmen, the Multix can also double-up as a generator to light up homes, power tools or even run a DJ console.
Dealership prices start at around 233,000 rupees ($3,670.)
A joint venture between U.S.-based Polaris Industries and India’s Eicher Motors, the vehicle is designed to be small enough to steer through congested city roads in the South Asian country, but still it comes with an independent suspension system and 225 millimeters of ground clearance to tackle potholed or flooded streets.

Unless something has changed lately....It probably won't be allowed.
chicken tax
Same reason you can get a Toyota Hilux...which is a real shame.

I've always wanted a small to mid-size pickup with a 4 cylinder diesel. Perfect little work truck.

You can get a Hilux--its called a Tacoma in the U.S. market.

The Tacoma and the Hilux used to be the same truck, but not anymore.

How can this thing start at $3,670 when the cheapest off-road Polaris side-by-side in the US has an MSRP of near $10,000?

I guarantee my little arctic cat wildcat trail 700 has better suspension

It would probably be allowed in the U.S. but couldn't be licensed...so it couldn't be used on public roads. Similar to a Tiger Truck. It could be very good as a work vehicle for college campuses or large manufacturers where there is more of a campus, but not public roads.

We tried to import a minitruck in 2005 build by a joint venture between GM, Delphi, and Shanghai Motorworks. Couldn't get it DOT approved because of crash test failures. They were going to retail for $5995 for the gas burner which got 55MPG.
This leads me to another question, if our minitrucks wouldn't pass DOT, how the hell did one of these smart cars or a Fiat?
Still pisses me off. I coulda retired off of that deal.

I would put tires and a lift on that thing and drag a deer out of the woods with it.

They have them here in the caribbean. Ford's diesel ranger, and the Toyoto hilux are the most popular anything bigger and the ppl use a flatbed mini-trucks.

They hold up better in crashes. Which is why they costs a lot more than $6k.
