you need a full sized truck to pull that with, preferably with a v8

Or find a 67 Caprice station wagon with wood trim, the kind every family used to tow campers twice that size.

I’ve seen smaller trucks tow bigger loads in the quad.... but seriously get a better truck.

Does the trailer have brakes? My pop-up did.

Will you be towing it relatively flat ground?

How far will you be towing it?

How often will you be doing this?

Yeah before the urban cowboy truck dad caught on, people just pulled with their cars. The cars were often big and had V8, but still. No one needed a 400hp, 6000lb pickup to pull a 1500lb boat.

Thanks for the serious replies. The ranger is automatic. Just hit 100k miles. But yeah, I didn't think about the stopping problem because of weight. I will just have to use 2 vehicles. I have a wrangler jku I can pull pop-up. Just didn't want to take 2 vehicles for a 2.5 hour trip

The Bradys did it with 6 kids and a lesbian maid to the Grand Canyon.

Seriously, Mexicans routinely tow trailers or vehicles or vehicles on trailers, with little trucks. They go 60mph on the I-10, but they do it with seemingly no issues.

I would roll with it no problem but this is coming from a guy that towed a 24' pontoon boat with outboard motor 200 miles using a 96 Cutlass Ciera

Read this article and then load it all up and go to a truck stop weigh station, this will give you real numbers of what you will be towing.

Stopping will always be an issue before not being able to pull something.

2004 Ford Fleet RV & Trailer Towing Guide

Trailer will probably be fine to tow by itself.

I don't know if I would put 700# of anything in the back of a 1/4 ton, trailer or not.

Had a Ranger in high school. It squatted pretty hard with a Banshee in the back. Can’t imagine 700lbs in that thing.

It'll look like hell and be slow but will tow and stop it fine. Well under the tow rating.

Christ, I drag around mini excavators and skidsteers with a 1/2 ton Avalanche.

Apparently the truck nutz baws need a 2500 just haul a damn Jon Boat.

^ terrible, terrible, terrible idea.

Are you 16?

Buy a real truck.

ETA - if you try this, I hope Johnny Law pulls you over and gives you lots of tickets and tells you to go no further with this unsafe load plan. You're going to be a hazard on the road and you should probably get beaten just for contemplating this.
Good chance you damage your vehicle too, which would be well deserved.

I'm going to say this to be nice - put the ATV on a trailer and camp out of the bed of your truck and leave the pop up.

And buy a real truck, for fricks sakes.

towing cap is roughly 3k, payload is roughly 1100. it's basically maxed with the quad and tong weight, but with proper stopping distances and maintaining lower speeds it will safely transport the load.
