I have replaced my camera a few times now (Type 1). Usually my camera starts getting flaky and sometimes working and sometimes not. When this has happened in the past I just order a cheap unit on eBay and just connect it. My most recent purchase and attempt to hook it up resulted in no picture still. So, is there any troubleshooting I can do to determine if the new camera is faulty or if I have a power supply issue or an RCA cable supply issue? So, when I put truck in reverse now I get a black screen that says "CAM" in the upper left corner. So, I know it's trying to do something, but not showing a picture. It is very possible that the cheap camera I got is faulty, but I do not know how to check it. Please advise, thanks.?

Maybe they keep going out due to overuse?

You're allowed to own a truck and not back into every parking spot.

ETA: JK This is prob a good question for the Tech Board though.

Mine goes in and out frequently. When it's out I just use the mirrors.

Am I the only one who has more trouble using the backup camera than just using mirrors? I can't back up with the camera for shite, no problems with the mirrors

This is why we need a car forum on this site. This is a legit question that many people could offer troubleshooting solutions if we had an automotive forum.

But since this is the OT forum, I will tell you to ask your husband.

I have a back up camera on my vehicle. This really hits home and makes you think.

Mine stopped working on my work van, and it turned out to be the receiver with the screen was a piece of shite Jensen. Not sure if it is your camera or not, just replaced the head unit with a new screen and it works like it should.
