Chucktown,
I just moved to the Holy City. No idea if my street floods or not. Am on Congress between Rutledge and King. I know King and Huger floods, so I likely can't go anywhere.
Maybe the Greek Church would let me park on their grounds? It's at lease 4 inches higher than the road.

Welcome. There are stretches of Rutledge by you that do get pretty flooded. I ran into a few of them not long ago after just a regular heavy storm. There are so many random areas that get deep water that I wouldn't recommend venturing out anywhere over the next few days.
The are a number of city parking garages that are open for free for residents to park their cars and get them out of the path of any flooding, if you're able to get to one. Our building is one of them (entrance is at Line and Westedge). You just need to call the assistance at the entry and tell them you're there to get out of the storm.
ETA:

Parking Garages Open: The St. Phillip garage, located at 34 St. Phillip Street, has been added to the list of parking garages open for free during the storm until Friday at 8:00a.m. Charleston County has also opened parking garages for free at 90 Cumberland Street and 85 Queen Street.
Residents should move their vehicles to these higher ground locations to avoid flood damage. The following city garages are open for free:
St. Phillip Street garage (34 St. Phillip Street)
Aquarium parking garage (24 Calhoun Street)
Visitor Center parking garage (63 Mary Street)
99 WestEdge parking garage (99 West Edge Street)
Charleston Tech Center parking garage (997 Morrison Drive)
East Bay/Prioleau parking garage (25 Prioleau Street)
The Queen Street Parking Garage (93 Queen Street) will open for free at 3:00 p.m. today and remain open until Friday at 8:00 a.m.
To take advantage of free parking, residents must press the call button upon exiting and inform the operator they are using the free storm parking.

Thanks, Badger.
I have a faculty pass for that St. Phillips garage. I guess I will go park down there and walk back home. As long as there's no lightning, I don't mind the rain.

Well we have finally got hit by a few issues. Have a roof leak and two windows that had water come through and wet the walls below.
Our biggest issue right now is the pond in our back yard. It is only about 2 vertical feet from coming over our pool deck. The road in the front of our house is flooding because the storm drains are equalized due to the ponds being over full. The water in the streets are filling and are only about 18” of vertical feet from being up to our house.
One can’t do anything because of the other one. We have the storm drain in front of our house and is the lowest spot. Sucks.
And the rain just keeps coming.
My home is on the Sarasota / Lakewood Ranch line. Neighbor now saying he measured 15.8" of rain in the past 30 hours. I believe that number. We were the perfect distance from the coast to be in the middle of the big heavy dirty bands

High tide is ~3pm for you guys, right? If you can escape disaster there it should go down as the tide goes out. And Sarasota seems to be through the bulk of it.

Tide is not affecting us. Its just runoff. There is no where for all this water to go. I am inland a few miles. Our streets drain into the holding ponds behind our homes. Now the ponds are up 5 or 6 feet from yestrday and approaching our homes in the back. The street drains go underground into the ponds. That cant happend now becuase the flow is equalized.
So, the streets are building up and we are forecasted for the rain to start back at 3pm today and not really be over until 7pm tomorrow night

Radarscope storm total accumulation is showing something similar. Widespread 15-20” for the whole area.

Lanier Hope it starts receding. Do you still have power? Looks like Florida has 269k out which I think is a small number for a hurricane.
Hopefully there isnt a lot of tree damage or power lines down.

And the HWRF model shows Debbie entering the Atlantic off the GA coast, then remembering it left something in Madison FL and heading back for a day or so.
WTF.

We have not lost any services. Power, internet and tv is working. We had a few good wind gusts, but for the most part, it’s been 30 to 40 miles an hour when it was bad and 15 to 25 steady. I don’t think winds were an issue around us. Just the sheer amount of rainfall and the fact that it’s been raining pretty good here for a month.
It’s starting back now and it scheduled to rain till tomorrow evening.
In another fun twist, I went outside to look at the water level in the street and there are fish swimming in my front yard and up and down the street.

Be thankful for those breaks in the rain. Those are the things that can make all the difference. It doesn't seem like much, but those hours or even minutes when the rain stops gives drainage a bit of time to catch up.
It's the 24-48 hours of driving rain, with zero let up, that's soul crushing. Hopefully your drainage can keep up Lanier.

The parking garages are open for free to park your cars. Just moved ours to the St Phillip lot near campus.
ETA: see you got it covered. If you run out of food or need beers, Rec Room and Dispensary will be open through the storm. I’ll be at one or the other
