I apologize if this has already been answered, but when is the rain supposed to hit the LA coast?

Outer bands should start impacting LA by at least tomorrow afternoon. Good chance even by sometime tomorrow morning.

Shouldn't that be Jefferson Davis Parish? Jefferson Parish is nowhere near the others.

Grande Isle is in Jefferson Parish...

What's the amite basin comprised of?

Get widespread 15" rain over that area with the winds pushing up out of the south, effectively slowing the drainage of the river.

The thing is, with this disorganized of a system, a widespread drop of that much rain is really unlikely.

I hope not. But y'all didn't have a catastrophic flood 10 months ago. Not everyone is back to full strength since then.

The August system wasn't very organized in terms of a closed low-level circulation. All it takes is a tropical system to stall or very slowly drift across the area after a two month period of heavy rains.

I got shredded a while back on here for suggesting BR could be affected by a storm surge. Imagine the set up we have now (regarding the recent rains saturating our ground) but instead this system is a category 2 or 3 with a circulation as large as this one. Coming in from the same angle making landfall in SWLA.

It can happen, y'all. It's a matter of when, not if. Thank God this is a weak system.

Why is this called Tropical Cyclone 3? Did they drop Tropical Depression? And the wins are 40 so why isn't it a Tropical Storm? What the frick is going on?

1. All Cindy's are raving bitches.

2. If the LSU game is any precursor of what's to come, break out the KY.

I'll chime in again when I have more.

It wasn't organized as a LLC, but it was focused with the low practically overhead. I doubt we get that widespread of ridiculous rain totals. Note: doubt, not "won't happen"

Would need to be hitting a roadblock to drop enough rain, but yes, that's a nightmare scenario for BR. Only thing worse might be that with the Bonnie Carre open.

No, tropical depression is still used. Right now it is being referred to as "Potential Tropical Cyclone Three". This is new protocol from the NHC that allows them to issue advisories, watches, and warnings even before the storm is organized into a depression or storm. Purpose is to increase time between the issuance of advisories and warnings and the actual impact.

Sounds like a way for them to be even more pretentious and suck each other's dicks more.

I actually agree with you. I doubt the rainfall amounts this time won't get as high as 30" like in Watson. Maybe 20" though, which if we get 10"-20" over the Amite basin, we're gonna have some problems that before August would've been considered just short of catastrophic.

20" across a large area is still highly unlikely. If you are just speaking in hypotheticals, yeah it would suck, but it is still just an unlikely hypothetical.

Would be interesting to see what this system could do if it weren't fighting wind shear.
