Used to be a billion. The stimulus package is measured in trillions.

To pay back a one trillion dollar loan, at a rate of one dollar per second, would take you 31,688 years. How old is America ?

“I place economy among the first and most important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared…To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt…We must make our choice between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude...”

I think most idiots in the House and Senate couldn't write $2.2 trillion on a sheet of paper. If they were given a pencil and paper.

Y'all people realize that ya boy put us 3 tril+ further down the hole before this all started right?

No one cared then.

Debt is only a concern when a Democrat is in the White House...historically bailing out the previous administration that cut taxes while raising spending- you know, like the last three years.

Unfortunately, this is true

Osama / Bush 2 really did a number on this country. Obama kept it going, and so has Trump.

We pretty much have 3 options:
1. Cut spending AND raise taxes
2. Print money
3. Default

It has become too politically difficult to do the right thing (cut spending and raise taxes). So we are just running the printers at full speed.

We should artificially value the dollar like China does for the yuan

If you owe too much to the bank, the bank owns you

If you owe a huge amount to the bank, you own the bank

Also, nukes/aircraft carrier groups controlling the high seas and all traffic lanes. Come try and force us to payback when we aren't good and ready

Please show us on the doll where the tax cut touched and hurt you.

Also, please show where the tax cuts actually lowered federal income.

We have a SPENDING PROBLEM, period. Does not matter who is in the White House. At least the guy in there now had a growing economy that was putting more money into the system.

Odummy was just adding regulations (expenses to businesses) and spending on pet projects as repayment for political support. Remember shovel ready jobs?

Progs are such pussies.

Debt has always been a problem. If you haven't figured it out, Trump is not a conservative

I'm starting to believe he's a believer in modern monetary theory like "ya boy" Bernies advisors.

If people say we saved over 100,000 lives during this pandemic shutdown, that means we are at $20,000,000/life saved.

That’s a nice quote, Thomas. But many of us vote for fiscally conservative candidates and they spend the money anyway. Then we voted for new people and they spend the money anyway. Then there are peaceful movements and protests calling for fiscal conservative spending and new people get elected and they spend the money anyway.

The island airfields and anti-ship missile capabilities have us pushed out of striking range of the Chinese coast.

Ironically outside of South Korea, our big ally in that region to counter Chinese aggression is Vietnam and their massive coastline.

Trump was running a trillion dollar deficit in a "good" economy. When you are that fiscally irresponsible in the good times it takes away all your tools (except printing more money) when the inevitable recession comes.
