Tried and true ways to deal with Cox?

Anybody with experience dealing with Cox and trying to get their bill down. Every month I look and the charges are more and more with no improvement. I've seen that "I'm switching to Direct TV" worked for a few people and I'm just wondering if that's still the go to?
TIA
TIA

Keep them out of your mouth.

How long have you been a customer consecutively?

Didn't work for me. Lady on the phone just said, "Okay, well I'll get your cancellation started then"

They can be hard to deal with. By the time I sit on hold forever and hear all of Hall and Oates greatest hits, I forget what it was I was calling for in the first place.

The "switch to dish" worked more than a few times for me. Then I switched to dish and kicked myself for not doing it sooner. Much better value. I still have internet through cox but those prices don't seem to jump like cable did.

Speak with customer retention.

And did you cancel or did she call your bluff? They've done it so much they can usually tell how far a person is willing to go. Sometimes you have to go all the way to the very end before they finally say "OK, OK, let's see if there's a way to keep your business"

- First off, you want to speak to the "retention department." They're the ones that apply the discounts to keep your business.
- Tell them you're not liking what you're seeing with the bill steadily creeping up all the time, and ask if there are any promotions available.
I got a good promotion and rate, then asked them to lock that price for a 2-year contract. It's still valid as long as I don't cancel a major service.
And if you do use the scorched earth approach (threaten to swap to dish) and they act like they don't care, call them out on it. "Wow, so Cox really doesn't care about my business one way or the other? I guess I see what Cox thinks of their customers!" If these calls are recorded they shouldn't be happy about their supervisor hearing that conversation...
Good luck dude!

Just switch over to either Direct TV or ATT.
