You should get out more. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

They were literal traitors to the United States of America. Confederate soldiers or generals should not be honored in any way.

where is the history about 30,000 free slaves fighting for the south?
or what about how 95% of Confederate soldiers didn’t even own a slave?
or the part where there were black slave owners, which meant some blacks were in the top 1% of the time?
or the part where you find out each slave cost around 20 grand in our money today and how they just had to let what they invested in walk away because the North wanted us to pay for 75% of the federal government in a nicer way?
or the part where some slaves were treated so well that they returned back to the plantations they were put on?

Learn the definition of the word "literal" genius.

So because some slaves had it good, it's justified?
The indistinguishable fact is, the war was started over slavery.
People can downvote(we know it's easier than using your words) but slavery started the civil war.
frick what a slave was worth.
frick that free people had slaves. frick the good treatment.
You are defending treating a person as property only because you cannot admit slavery was a frick up.
I remember when I had a fricking teacher try and say "the civil war wasn't about slavery it was about state's right's"
Again sure, but what was the chief right we are talking about?
It's all people who would rather romanticize chattel slavery than admit their ancestors were pos.

Preach.
The mental hoops confederate apologists jump through to try to make the cause for which the confederacy fought not quite as bad are comical.

Wars aren't started over single issues.

So this is called a false equivalency. With your mindset, it's not very surprising.

The right to govern themselves as they see fit. And the right to not have states that benefit from slavery via the cotton trade, tell states that use slavery what to do. It was pure hypocrisy.
Your problem, Napolean, and the problem with many like you, is you can't talk rational about slavery or the civil war and remove emotion. Your arguments are based off of emotion. You'd be hard pressed to find people here who find slavery is a moral and just thing. It's not. However, we are able to talk about it without clutching our pearls because someone is being rational about the institution of slavery and talking about it without feelings. That's called a rational conversation. You are also trying to apply today's standards to the past. You can't do that and argue rationally about the past. That is a form of virtue signaling.

Also, keep in mind, the same people who get offended over Southern Pride, are the same people offended over American pride. Do their opinions really matter?

Okay. So by your argument fricked up things from the past are okay, because in those days it wasn't seen as bad?
Hitler killed jews, it's okay, we didn't like jews then.
Takamata killed people who wouldn't convert, it's okay, frick those heathens.
Stalin killed millions,oh well give him a pass, it was dark times, he did industrialize his country.
Of course we judge history through our current morals and viewpoint.
It's also emotional because the effects of it are still felt today.

Generalize much.
Keep in mind the people who like the rebel flag are also members of the kkk.
See how stupid that is?

Again, remove your emotion, and remove your personal feelings on the matter. I don't think "bad things" are ok, but i'm also not arguing my feelings, i'm arguing facts.

Well then grab your purse, Abigail Mae, you're in for a rough life.

Slavery is probably one of the most emotional issues this country has ever had to confront.
quote:
rational about the institution of slavery
The entire institution of slavery is irrational. There is no way to have a rational discussion on something like slavery if its very existence is irrational.
quote:
That is a form of virtue signaling.
You have a problem with someone virtue signaling the fact that slavery is bad?
Really?
