Don't stay near Wrigley; you can get their easily by train. Stay near Michigan Ave along the Magnificent Mile.

If you have time rent bikes and go ride down the lakeshore area all the way down to Linkin park. Through the zoo...good stuff....a few beaches as well.

Not rocket science. Staying by Wrigley would be retarded IMO.

As someone who has never been before, that is what I am trying to get a feel for. I am already looking around the Mag Mile area as I type thanks to the advice above.

Will look around here as well. Thanks!

Looking around the Mag Mile, is there any hotels you guys can recommend? The swissotel is a little much for us ($300+). I am not against paying $200 or a little more as I have done that in Nashville. It is getting a little overwhelming seeing how many there are in the area.

There is a kimpton hotel called hotel Burnham just off the mag mile. Great location and I love their hotels. They have free happy hour everyday at 5-6pm with wine

I live a few blocks from Wrigley, you're not going to find any hotels around the stadium because it's a residential neighborhood. If you're really adamant about staying in Wrigleyville, your best bet would probably be an Airbnb. That being said, stay in river north and take the CTA up for the concert.

Tip: The red line Addison stop is where you would get on/off at Wrigley. That station is an absolute shite show before and after games, I would recommend making the 15 min walk to the Southport station on the brown line and taking that back to river north. If you want to grab a beer afterwards check out Corridor Brewery on Southport Ave, it just opened in October. You're welcome.

Any other things to check out in a weekend there other than the Willis Tower?

I went for the first time last summer. We stayed in the Water Tower area, which I'd definitely recommend. The only time we took Uber/cabs were to go to Wrigley, get to and from the airport, and maybe once or twice when we had walked a long arse way and didn't feel like hiking back. It's simple to get around. The parts of Chicago you'll be in are very walkable and very clean.

As for what to do, we did touristy stuff and liked it, and I'm typically not a fan. Did Willis, did the architectural boat tour (do this), got deep dish, went to Wrigley, went to the parks, walked along the lake and Miracle Mile, went to a couple steakhouses, went to the art museum. I'd recommend all of it. Mixed among all that, we stopped at any bar/patio that looked interesting and got drinks.

It was fun, I'd do things exactly the same next time (I won't, but I wouldn't mind if I had to) with the exception of Willis. It's worth doing for sure, but I'm not waiting in a 2.5 hour line again.

We stayed at the Double Tree on Ohio St for less than $100/night. Can't beat that

I'm getting a headache just thinking about that stop, but...

I'd just take the red line up a few hours before the game (when it won't be as crowded) and bar hop. Get some barbecue at Old Crow and go from there.

I was looking at a place called The Majestic which was about a mile or so away. I have abandoned that plan after this thread and now looking more "downtown" if you will. Thanks for the tip!

My wife used priceline and we ended up at a Sheraton overlooking the river that was really nice and about $145/night IIRC.

Regarding transportation, we bout the 2 day pass for the hop on hop off trolley, its a really cheap and easy way to get around the Mag mile and downtown area to see most of the main attractions. It won't get you to Wrigley though.

Your recommendation is correct, but I can't take you seriously. Chicago has no subway.

Not true. The Red Line at Michigan Avenue is a subway. It rises out of the ground and becomes an elevated train as it enters Lincoln Park near Armitage.

Stay downtown and take the train to the show. That's what I'm doing.

That's a really cool area, Old Town/Lake View. I'd try to look for anything off N Broadway if you can (even look for AirBnB to be honest).

You can definitely stay downtown and take the L up to Wrigley, it's not bad at all. That's also not a bad option.
