All GM trucks/tahoes will have transmission issues. The last 2 I've had (2015 & 2018) both had transmissions go out around the 100k mile mark.

Have 120k on my 2011 Tahoe. No issues. Had the transmission fluid replaced at 100k. Works like a champ. But also have a chip in mine that disables the active fuel management bullshite and the funky shifting that goes with it. Smooth as butter.

Rebuilt my wife’s Yukons transmission last year. Mechanic said rebuild was better because of upgrades done. Not sure if replacement would have them. Cost me $4000 out the door fyi

2018 Yukon. 122k miles.

$8500……with extended warranty, it was $1850.

Used certifies GM replacement.

Replaced mine in my '18 Sierra earlier this year, just over 100k. Luckily, I opted in for the extended warranty when I purchased the truck new in '19.

Total estimate I received for a new GM transmission out the door was ~$6k. The warranty company would have installed an unknown transmission from a parts yard and covered the whole thing, around ~$2k. I opted to go with the GM transmission and pay close to $2k out of pocket. It came with an additional 3 year / 100,000 mile warranty for GM parts and service.

Did mine 6 months ago. 2015 Tahoe right at 100k. Dealer wanted $6k. Went to reputable transmission shop. Little over $4k.

I'm in BR and have a '17 yukon with the 6.2L has about 78k miles on it. Is there anything that I need to look at for prevention?

Change the bud light (tranny fluid) via full pan drop now, then again every 60,000 miles.

I did this with a half ton Silverado and sold it with 260K miles on the original transmission. Honestly you should do that with any non-CVT vehicle.

If it has a CVT, just trade it in.

Any of you guys had to replace a transmission in your GMC? Mine started having issues at 130,000 miles and I'm being told it's time to replace.
