Since calls for a boycott emerged on social media at the start of April, Bud Light's parent company has, in the words of a marketing strategist, made a series of "knee-jerk" moves to quell the outrage, including releasing an advert for Budweiser infused with patriotic imagery and placing marketing executives involved in the partnership on leave.

But these appear to have only drawn accusations that the brand was pandering to transphobes after committing to supporting the LGBTQ+ movement, and the row has crystallized into a broader debate about the acceptance of transgender individuals in public life.

On April 14, Brendan Whitworth, CEO of parent company Anheuser-Busch, issued an official statement, saying: "We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people. We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer."

It's like they have no idea who drinks (drank) their beer and who they should cater too.

But they hired some woke MBA with a plug’n play guide of how to ruin a brand.

They painted themselves into a corner as soon as they partnered with Mulvaney. They alienated the typical Bud Light customers and aligned themselves with a group of people who were always going to want AB to double down on their Mulvaney endorsement/support. As soon as AB hesitated, they pissed that side off, too.

Now everyone is mad at them.

The response has been arguably worse than the can. They could have knocked it out the park with the appropriate response.

They don't even need to advertise. Went into the store yesterday and some dude was wheeling in stacks of bud light. I offered to throw it in the dumpster. He said beer drinkers will get their beer and this will blow over. Then I walked in and bud light is almost stacked to the ceiling.

The big issue is that comparable and superior products exist inches away on store shelves. Like you can sneeze and your arm would almost grab Coors instead of the hyper political Bud Light.

If they had ANY sense, they would come out and say that they made a HUGE mistake, everyone is fired, and they are going to ask that trannies do not buy their beer.

It would create the biggest backlash of free advertising in the history of the brand, they would win back as least some of the lost customer base, and lose the 7-8 trannies that actually exist in the world and buy beer.

How many trannies were drinking Bud Light anyway?

Everyone who worked on and approved this dumpster fire should be fired.

For sure. Honestly, just saying nothing at all probably would have ensured it blew over eventually. Bud Light didn't even promote or post the ad.. Dylan did. It would have died out as soon as the next outrage came along. But Bud Light decided to go into the news and put out all kinds of statements on it, most of all calling their customers "fratty" and other insulting names.

They started running the over the top middle-America commercials all of a sudden. They're so fricked.
