You are correct in some states they are regulated by department of insurance and in some states they can’t be called home warranty but Service contract or similar

Goodman is not a Trane brand. Ameristar is Tranes builders line.
American Standard is the manufacturer for Trane and Ameristar.
Goodman is an Amana brand and was just sold to Daikin which is a Chinese company
Daikin is Japanese, not Chinese.

$7,600 for a 14 SEER Trane 5 ton and all the extras. But in Houston so probably cheaper along with most everything else.
Who’d did you use, sir? And are you happy with the work?
ETA I just had a boiler fan replaced for $500. Mine is running like a champ. And quiet as a mouse by comparison. That thing slowly sounded like crap for a long time. We just didn’t know it?

I had a buddy in Metairie that bought an American Home shield warranty for 500 bucks and they replaced his entire AC unit for the cost of the deductible. He bought in and filed the claim 3 days later.
Your buddy is full of shite.
those home warranties are a complete scam.
I was gifted one with my new house. Condenser went out in the attic b/c it had a leak. replaced it and it cost me $1100. Had i not had the warranty, it would have been $1300. Thanks a lot American Home Shield.

If you have batt insulation, you might not want a two speed. They is so efficient, they sometimes cause moisture in the wall, which leads to mold growth. In Louisiana, due to the high humidity, two speeds are more suited for foam insulation.

We have 2x6 exterior walls with blown-in insulation (net & blow) with foam on the roof deck. Engineer suggested 2 speed system with some sort of humidity control system.
2900s/f - 4 ton, 2 ton and a 1.5 ton mini-split. American Standard. Full install + duct work was right under 20k.

Usually the cost is around $2,200 per ton for new construction for a Goodman brand, which is Trane's builders model.
Dude, shut up. You don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. Goodman has absolutely nothing to do with Trane.

More bad info. Ingersoll Rand is the manufacturer of Trane, American Standard and Ameristar. Goodman purchased Amana, not vise-versa. Daikin, the world's largest producer of air conditioning equipment, purchased Goodman in 2012 for $3.7 billion.

This has devolved into an HVAC guy "Thunderdome.

Friend of mine owns National Air in New Orleans. They usually only install and sell Trane. Good work. Usually reasonable prices from what I have seen. Get a few estimates before you settle, as always

What HVAC company? That is a good price.

Anyone have an opinion on 3 ton 16 SEER Lennox units?
Posted on 10/19/17 at 8:53 am to MaHittaMaHitta
I changed to the Trane XV18 5 ton in 2015. Kept same ducts as they were just 5 years old and metal. Think it was 13K. Very quiet, you can select humidity level and much lower electric bill. Great variable speed system.

Ingersoll Rand has nothing to do with Trane other than the fact that they own them. They own Club Car and Thermo King as well. They own those companies to stay diversified. They have nothing to do with how those 3 separate entities manufacturer anything.
Ingersoll Rand bought Trane to learn and use sales and manufacturing processes from them, not the other way around. Trane pulls in more revenue than the compressed air division of IR. While Trane is owned by IR, Trane is the largest entity within IR.

Just got a 16 seer 3.5 ton installed American Standard. About 7000 installed.

Trane makes the equipment, but IR owns them.
Johnson Controls owns York.
United Technologies owns Carrier.
This is common in the AC industry for the original companies to have been purchased by other companies.
