I have never in my life heard Grape Soda be used as a racist term.

I've heard black people joke about how other black people will drink anything if its grape..

Oh.. I remember I was with two friends, this was a long time ago. A white dude and black dude. We stopped at Starbucks because the white dude wanted something and the black dude was messing with him (he was the only one of the three who wanted something) about how you never see starbucks around black areas and the white dude said "I am going to open up one in a black neighborhood but it will be grape drinks with a lot of caffeine"..

I forgot about that.. That was funny

But I never heard it used as an insult to black people.

I find that hard to believe. Maybe it's regional in usage. I'm familiar with the rest.

I've never called them an Arnold Palmer with extra sugar or double Hennessy.

I can tell you for a fact that every pan meatlover with jalapeños I ever delivered for pizza hut was a to a black customer.
It's not wrong to observe trends. It's just bad to make fun

Y'all obviously don't know the jokes in the service industry. It's very common to refer to black customers by their stereotypical drink.

That’s a recent term? Bc the servers I know call them ‘no-tip’ - and sometimes millennials are ‘no-tip’ as well

I mean, yeah.... but that doesn’t mean grape soda is now a racist term against black people

It does when the tweet is prefaced by an announcement to name a horse in honor of an analyst and post a black fist. Jeezus you people.

White people are the majority of America. Why are we putting up with this stupidity?

I suppose they dislike being associated with picnic foods...

I hate to break it to you but "picnic" is on the list of racially charged words now as well.

If everything is racist nothing is racist.

He’s always made himself very controversial.

Name wouldn’t have been noticed if he hadn’t tweeted a picture of the horse the week before and said he renamed him after a certain TVG analyst. So... it has more to do with him pointing out that the name was racist than the actual name being racist.

Not sure if that was already said in here.

I'm familiar with the jokes but not the term 'grape soda' to directly refer to black folks.
