I received a bill from the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge Red Light Enforcement Program back in March.

Per the advice of past OT threads, I ignored the bill and subsequent letters. There have now been FOUR bills sent to me, and the amount due is up to $167.

The bill states: “Failure to respond will cause this matter to be submitted to a collection agency in accordance with applicable state and federal collection laws.”

There is also an emboldened message that reads PRE COLLECTION NOTICE at the top.

Lawyers and legal experts of the OT, does this need to be paid to avoid fricking in my credit or is this just straight bullshite?

You could stop running red lights and avoid this situation all together.

You're good.

Ask said collection agency to provide a documented contract the person who is claiming you owe them something has with you.

Oh that's right, it doesn't exist.

You should feel obligated to pay it if for no other reason, the other 67,295 people have not.

Lemme ax you a question. How are they going to put that on your credit?

There is NO way for them to get NOR do they have authority to use your Social Security Number which is attached to your credit.

Toss it in the trash. They'll go away in time.

You did not incur a debt or an obligation to pay someone in exchange for services. Therefore, you don't owe a debt to anyone and they cannot send you to collections for a debt that does not exist.

It was 2:30 in the morning on Lee, and I swear that I thought I had a green arrow.

For the light at Lee and Perkins, apparently there is a delayed turn light that lags well behind the signal for forward traffic.

As much retarded shite as there is on this forum sometimes, y’all occasionally come through in a big way.

I really appreciate the consolation.

We’ve all been there. But that’s far more serious than just running a red light lol.

Here in town (prior to them removing the cameras altogether), if you were parked in a paid parking spot, they could tow your car if you had unpaid red light fines.

Did you agree to a debt? How can they put something in collections if you never agreed to it?
