We have a '23 CRV and really like it. Only complaint is the radio. Uses Android Auto and phone which leaves a lot to go wrong.

My wife got a RAV 4 back around 2012, was very basic but easy for her to drive and super reliable. Gave it to one of our kids who drove it a couple years, over 200k miles with no issues, and then sold it. One of the best value cars we ever had.

I’m at the stage of my life where I view this as a good thing. Less shite to break

I just drove a '24 RAV4 as a rental and that thing could not get out of its own way most of the time. It was also really noisy (both road noise and rattles).
I owned a 2012 RAV4 for a few years and I would prefer that one to this new one.

I've been driving a 11+ yr old Mazda 3 (purchased new) without any real problems. Its older, so some things need to be replaced as they wear, but it has been reliable. Over 150k miles. Plan to buy a new Mazda suv when I finally decide that I want a car note again.

Honestly, ever car in that class we drove outclassed the Toyota.
Until they're sitting in the scrap yard at 180K and the 'Yota is still running strong.

Son has the Toyota. It’s been fantastic for 4 years.

My son is driving a CX-5 with now 225,000 miles. Tires, brake pads, and the engine belts changed are the only maintenance done besides normal oil changes. I’ve had both Toyota and Honda. Mazda makes great cars and that 2.5L engine is a winner. For me, Mazda is just as good.

I had a mazda 6. It ran ok, but after about 3,000 miles a valet stole it.
Replaced with a Mazda 3. It enjoyed eating CVT's. Done on Mazda. Daughter has an old Rav4. No issues except I replaced the 4 coil packs. They take 3 minutes each to replace. Standard maintenance and tires. She graduated, makes good money and can afford a new one. She will drive this one until it is undrivable. It is an AWD and is archaic, but it goes forever and the air blows cold.

Slightly different comparison but we almost got a Highlander (I’ve had a Tundra for 16 years so am a Toyota fan). But the Toyotas lack a sense of sportiness (for lack of a better term).
We chose the CX-9. Mazda drives better and has a nicer interior for about the same money - if not less. Got it in 2020 and have done only routine maintenance.
Engine is a solid design and has some flexibility as well - doesn’t require premium gas - but if you use premium, you get more power.
I’m a Toyota fan - but if I had to buy today, it would be a Mazda.

Two decades of Mazda (4 wheels) and Honda (2 wheels). Don’t see me changing. Both have required only routine maintenance and zero issues.
