Friend,

Although it is not a popular opinion here, I share the sentiments of the owners of the Wedding Cake House:

I have a client who is on the verge of losing their businesses in New Orleans and still feel like she is doing all of this "to keep them safe".

I basically called him an idiot last week and he didn't catch on.

Friend,

If your livelihood depended on those bars and restaurants being open on the single biggest earnings weekend of the year, and you were facing financial ruin, I'm rather certain your fetishist obsession with "feeling safe" would change rather quickly.

It's rather easy to thank the mayor for "keeping you safe" when the shutdowns have no personal impact to you.

Not that you really care.

frick off,
Centinel

I assume Destroya is probably going to hammer the bar owners that defy her after the fact. Get a bunch of Covid Karens to take videos/pics of the ones who open against orders and then bring them in afterwards for a hearing to yank their restaurant/liquor licenses.

Couldn't some crafty lawyer with connections file a lawsuit on Friday around 4:00 PM and get a temporary injunction on this order until court reopens Wednesday morning?

They're probably too busy suing someone for a fake slip and fall to actually help people.

I just like all the politicians around her, including the governor, who never stand up to her, or do anything. She’s destroying the city, with over the top rules. Nothing changes.

Plenty of willing "brownshirts" willing to put in that work just for some internet brownie points.

Of course not. Her voter base, like most urban cities, have no skin in the game. They don't give two fricks about people's lives being ruined. They're either too rich to care, or only care about that gubmint check showing up at the first of the month.

Wow. So now people will just have house parties instead which is where it actually does spread. Genius.

I truly can't fathom being so stupid that I would believe a Politician is capable of "keeping me safe". That's got to be a pretty sad existence.

It actually is. So when cases go up from the house parties, she can turn around and say you're "not doing enough" and enact even more stringent policies.
