I knew a fighter pilot that had a mild form of it, did a hell of a job trying to suppress it, we used to joke that if he ever was shot down and captured he’d be in for a double dose of beatings during interrogation

Interesting fact, according to the neurologist, 99% of boys who have Tourette’s exhibit symptoms but only 1% of girls with the disorder show any symptoms.

If true, this is interesting.

I've noticed my oldest daughter does the same "eye roll" tick that I do, but none of the other ticks.

I knew a cop with tourettes. His tick was he would make this really funny noise. The same noise over and over. But no outbursts or saying things. Just making the noise the Jackoffasaur from South Park made. "Ooo-woop"

I've seen one real case of it in my life but it wasn't verbal. He had body motions every few minutes he couldn't control ,

My son was diagnosed. His ticks arent verbal, they get painful also. He started with weird eye movements, then we noticed his shoulder twitching and now he has added his hands.

I am very suspicious of all of they social media influences who have it, no way thry are all real but Tourettes is definitely real.

First time I experienced it was a girl in my class in 6th grade. Thats 25 years ago, but like with many illnesses, they seem to be more prevalent and common these days. Everyone has adhd and everyone is on the spectrum. Seems social media has made it "cool" to have a disability.

Not saying anything bad about the dude but the dude who yelled nword.. He looked like he had Tourette's. And its not something like ADHD where there could be benefits to having it (Adderall, if in school, more time to take test, etc) so its not something someone is likely to fake.

Either way, if attention was his goal then he succeeded. I don't think there has ever been a word that has been taken and became more offensive over time. Even the LGBT people has taken queer and made it a positive.. I think. I don't think its an insult to them to be called that. And growing up we called each other queers all the time. The f word that rhythms with maggot might be similar to the nword, but no one calls someone those names as a reference to their past or anything. 99% of the time people call someone as a response to them doing something "shut up f----t!" "You stupid nword! I told you to stop!".

The nword has been weaponized in case the right.... or wrong person is caught saying it. When I was in school in the 90s the only time it was an issue was if two kids.. a white and black got into it and the white kid... 99% of the time, who said it, did so just to provoke more than anything. And if they did say it and it did get someone upset and they went tell the teacher they would get punish work or something and everyone moved on.

I do remember one time in HS this white dude.. straight up trash.. Stole this black dudes jordans in the PE locker room and wore them the next day. The black dude ran up on him and the white dude told him something like "nword, get out of my face", the black dude punched him.. Kid fell out on the ground and the dude took his shoes back. He had to sit in front of the office to wait on the principal with no shoes on and a big red spot on his face. If I recall that was the white kid's last strike and got expelled. The black dude got suspended. And you moved on.

Today... saying it makes you public enemy #1.

Also, just because you don't understand how a disability works don't call it fake. Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean its fake. Ya heard?

As well as you here but then again no one will judge you for getting your facts wrong on this board. People were upset because they decided to take out all the other inflammatory words that were blurted out but not that one and some of those words that were removed weren’t expletives at all

I read their comments, that’s not what they were upset about, at all.
