Is it ever? At this point it’s hard to take them seriously anymore. I’m surprised they didn’t give it some scary name. Gotta sell that advertising.

Just because it wasn't bad for you or I doesn't mean it wasn't horrible and dangerous for others. Everything they warn about is predicated on chance, and better safe than sorry.

I think my sons school handled it the right way. They sent out a message that said there would be no tardiness or absences counted for weather related delays or absences.

Of course they did. I don’t know why we’ve suspended common sense in so many places. It’s not a “pussification” issue, it’s one of complete suspension of basic common sense.

Look at the replies here. They did the right thing because IT COULD HAVE BEEN BAD!!!

Got an eye on it 50. 2k baws talking about it yesterday.

Secondly, straight slept through whatever came through BR last night. Knocked down one of my plastic Jack-o'-lanterns. Counting that as a win considering the reports from other parts.

some damage pics around Alexandria/Pineville... I passed by the Cleco HQ in Pineville and it looked like it took a direct hit from an EF0 or EF1 tornado... trees snapped... 1 tree completely uprooted and a flagpole down but the building looked ok

This is Four Seasons Bowling Center off N. Mall Dr. in Alexandria after the severe storm. The side of the building was ripped off.

More storm damage in Alexandria. This is the First Federal Bank building on N. Mall Dr. in Alexandria. Horrible. Never seen anything like this here in Cenla.

For those of you whining about schools starting late today, have a look at the pictures above with the huge arse tree in the building at the school.

They didn't know that it would move through sooner than expected. Last time we had this kind of weather set up, something like 10 tornadoes hit in La with three being severe.

Huge tree down in the yard. Other than that came out okay.

Busy morning, and some dangerous conditions along Lee Street. All power is out along a big chunk of that area, and several buildings are destroyed. Metal and debris is scattered across Lee/Texas, downed power lines, etc. Be cautious, be aware of where you’re headed.

That's because you can only PREDICT the weather. Nothing absolute about it. Better to err on the side of caution than to put people in harm's way. If that front is two hours slower, which very well could have happened remember it's a prediction, then kids are getting on the bus and being transported in the middle of it.

No, not with people operating under the principle of basic common sense.

We live in Louisiana, and you're talking about common sense? People don't know how to drive in the rain. They sure as hell don't know how to use common sense in this situation.

I mean, for all of time up until about 3 years ago they did.

How many kids were killed driving to school in tornadoes in Louisiana, before we started preemptively canceling schools the day before on the chance that some might come through?

Can't we just declare, if a tornado is coming through, don't bring little Johnny to school, for those who might not be able to figure that out otherwise?
