you'll see scattered supercells starting around noon becoming more frequent throughout the night. the supercells will be the most dangerous with tornado/hail threat but lots of heavy rain and wind in the overnight and early morning stuff.

Mesoscale Convective System

It's basically a large area/complex/mass of organized storms (typically stronger storms).

it's kind of ironic. NOAA doesn't even need to advertise and their branding is more invasive than ours.

Yeah it's a little unusual to me that the hatched area is outside the moderate area overall but I'm just a weather watcher. You guys are the experts.

It will likely be a multi-round event, so you will need to be weather aware from now through late tonight

Returning from spring break, currently staring at a beautiful beach, trying to decide when to leave so we're not driving through the teeth of this. Answer may be leave now.

FWIW, the storm going through Lafayette right now is pretty intense. Severe thunderstorm warning associated with it as well.

What is/are the best apps for these storms? I have about 6 diff ones from local stations to general weather apps. Also any sites?

Loving STORM app bc I get updated crowd information on how large hail is, if trees are down, and weather is severe storm, severe hail, meso cyclone, tornado, etc.

I use STORM as well. It was pretty funny watching it here in Boston yesterday as the precip oscillated between rain/snow/sleet and back.
