I knew I guy I used to work with that got hit by two tornadoes in Benton.
I know a girl whose parent's home got hit in the 1974 Super Outbreak. Their home got hit again quite a few years later. She grew up, got married, bought her own home, and it got hit on April 27, 2011.

Pretty bad luck for Mansfield. The cell was a broadly rotating pisser to the west of town, ramped up right over town, the turned back into a pisser after it passed through.
I have to drive through Mansfield tonight so I'll check out any damage if there was any.

I know there's more pressing weather issues at hand, but I'm curious what makes this a "yikes"? Explain this to me in hurricane terms...

Some folks out that way are going to be really damn cold, as in maybe record cold.

New Tornado watches up. Anything going to form?

Not 1000% sold on a Mansfield tornado. There could have been one but the CC drop doesn't line up with the couplet or high reflectivity. It could have just been some trash.

World record for measured sea level pressure is 1083.3 mb . December 31, 1968

The record in the continental usa was set back in 1983: 1064mb. Simply put the higher the pressure the colder it will be

Looking like the tops are being blown off to the Southeast on my radar. Is this a thing?

Kind of. Lower level instability is lacking and storms just can't sustain a meso. They're interacting with a boundary which gives them a bit of a boost, but they quickly outrun that boundary and the meso just falls apart.
It is interesting in that the NAM tried to sniff this out, and it did a bit. HRRR hit on the storm mode, but has overdone instability so far. Kind of a blend between the two.

It is hard this time of year to rely on CC. Too much light organic matter and all around that any brief updraft can loft. Any wind, really.
Last year's December derecho (maybe) in Iowa had a CC drop all the way across the gust front due to that.

Thanks. I was watching the line in Beauregard and Vernon. Never noticed it before.
