So many heartbreaking stories showing up now. Western Kentucky is going to take years to recover.

One of the most frustrating things is with how well this was predicted, there was still nothing people could do if they were in the direct path.
Thats heartbreaking Waffle. Im so very sorry.

I've seen a couple others posted in this thread.
Operation BBQ Relief has deployed to Mayfield. It started in response to April 27.

Yeah. Unfortunately, sometimes there are tornadoes that are just so violent that someone in the direct path can only survive if they’re underground.

That is absolutely heart-wrenching to read. This family is absolutely in my prayers. Let us know if anything can be done to help. How awful.

I've read 8 people still unaccounted for in Mayfield, presumably at the candle factory. I'm not certain, though.

Thanks and will do.. Yeah man, I just feel awful for the whole family. I dont personally know the parents but as a father its still overwhelming. Hug your kids, people.

fricking know it all has been meteorologist on Twitter with the worst take ever is trashing the SPC for their outlooks not being “high risk” for this event. Some people I swear… risk means chance, possibility, etc. it has nothing to do with severity. There was some uncertainty over this event, which is why it was just a moderate.

Crazy story I heard today while in leachville, there is a small impoverished community northeast of there called Buckeye. A girl out there lived in an old travel trailer and hid in a pump house like off of Twister. She dang near broke her arm holding on for dear life to keep the door shut so she wouldn’t get sucked out.
I’m headed to her area tomorrow to do some work.

I noticed older houses and older buildings in historical parts of town have stood up much better than these newer homes which are death traps. If anyone is thinking of building a house in the future, I strongly recommend that you spend the extra money and have it extra fortified. It will save your life one day.
