Still in shock and awe at the longevity of the quad-state supercell last night. While this map shows approximate start and end times of the mesocyclone, most of it's life cycle had an extremely violent tornado, particularly between 1z and 5z

To the people downvoting, please provide evidence or proof that a winter tornado outbreak is unheralded or even rare, we averege one every other year. Yes including violent long track tornados.

This is true.

We usually don’t see them to this extent in December in Kentucky. Just because we’re normally not well above 60 degrees with a big front moving in this time of year.

Most of the ones we’ve seen of this level have been in early Spring.

This is terrible. And there wasn’t adequate warning about this by the TWC.

Hopefully people were getting the warnings from other sources and were watching local weather coverage. The NWS did a great job giving plenty of advanced warning.

One WKU student died off campus last night. They were supposed to graduate today. WKU has cancelled their graduation ceremonies today.

Most folks around here watch local weather in events like this. They all covered it pretty well.

Who turns on TWC for local weather events?

The issue is when these things hit at night when people are asleep. The smart move is to have a weather radio that will go off and wake your arse up.

Incredible. Ten hours on the ground, from metro Little Rock to just south of Louisville, KY, wrecking havoc the whole way. Just when you think you've seen it all...

I think the 2011 twister in Joplin MO holds that record.

Everyone news wise is here. Storm chasers, Weather Channel, Fox News.

One of my memories from the December 16 , 2000 Tuscaloosa tornado was the aftermath and how many people drove up and down our street looking at the destruction. The helicopters that flew overhead were often.
