For some reason Tangipahoa Parish seems to get worse weather than its neighboring parishes

For a say 4 to 5 minute period I’d estimate 35 mph to 50 mph winds west of Ponchy. Tree limbs and debris on Hwy 22, more so in my neighborhood’s roads. Power out, Entergy estimates 8 p.m. restoration time.

Hammond Airport recorded 23 sustained gusts 47 at 1736.

I am close to PHS just north off Hwy 22 and literally got none of that. Just good rain line, none of the wind. Its hit or miss, good luck with that restoration time.

Worst storm for me was Ida, I would take 10 Ida's before dealing with a Tornado. Been through 1 Tornado and hope it never happens again.

Trees down across both sides of 55. Had to have been a small twister go through there.

Was in amite right when it came through. Definitely a tornado. Insulation and metal floating through the air and a few trees blown over. Most of amite and west of amite don’t have power.

I go driving in every hurricane to help people get out.

I will never be on the road again when there's as high of a chance of a tornado as there was the other day.

Depending on where you were for Ida you experienced tornadoes in the midst of the hurricane.

Houma, particularly, experienced mesovortices within the eyewall of Ida, and because of how the turn north/northeast happened they got only eyewall. They never experienced the calm of the eye.

When the first satellite views of the damage in Houma started coming in it was clear that it wasn't typical hurricane wind damage. The damage looked more akin to tornado damage with trees laid down in all directions, roofs off against what would have been prevailing winds, and just the sporadic nature that is tornado damage.

That's not to say that Ida was spinning up EF4/EF5 type tornadoes. It was more like a series of quick EF1 to EF3 tornadoes that would spin down quickly.

The Kentwood area seems to always catch hell.
