I have fricked up and smoked a whole cigar and drank a 20oz Baja Blast in one sitting following these storms. Combination of feeling relaxed from the cigar and hyper from the caffeine. I rarely drink anything with caffeine

That storm had great lead time. It had been tracked for around an hour before getting into the Laurel area. There would have been plenty of time to make a decision, get shite together, and leave. They may have gone to a shelter or friend's place. Or they may have just drove north out of the worst area.
There was no lack of warning for this storm and that area.
