Someone graduating with a 3.8 from Ben Franklin is looking at schools like Vanderbilt, Duke, Rice, Emory, etc. not Nicholls and UNO.

I have a PhD now. So, I am smarter than my scores, and not only did I prove it, so did my now peers in Academia.
Congrats, you have shown that you have determination. I have a masters degree, as per your request that you edited. A doctorate isn't applicable to my field, unless I want to enter academia.
Your degree proves that you are more educated, not necessarily more intelligent, than those with lesser degrees who may have scored higher on the ACT.

GPA is subjective. A 3.8 at Ben Franklin is not the same as a 3.8 at Glen Oaks.
That's not the point though.
While it is subjective in that sense across the state...
It is objective in showing that the student is capable of maintaining a regimen at being a good student.

That is what I am saying. Who would you rather pay college tuition for? A slacker who just did well on one test, or a student who applied themselves across their entire high school career?
Give me both. Make the requirements a 3.5 GPA and a 25 ACT.

sadly, in this state, not it doesn't

When some schools hand out GPAs like candy for just showing up, you cannot accurately state this.

Give me a rubric that helps students like me because I know they are out there.

ACT doesn't mean shite. I scored a 23 then a 24. I'm in med school now.
I took it one time as a junior with no prep material or classes and made a 28. I'm a middle school teacher. Guess how many times I've been told that I wasted my potential.

So it's all just circular then. I guess that's why this is so messy.
Your GPA doesn't count because you go to school in Louisiana.
Your ACT score won't be high, because you go to school in Louisiana.
You won't get a state-funded scholarship to a state school in Louisiana.

My boy made a 19 as a seventh grader.
He's a junior now at your alma mater and just took the ACT again.
fricker had better score 28 or more!

Want to go to college at a discounted rate? There's 4 services that you can join that only require 36 months of obligated service.
doesn't the Louisiana National Guard still offer free tuition for members as well?

28 would make it a legit scholarship

Can I ask what your masters is in, for you to have this mindset?

The ACT is very very learnable
I don't think so
I think it's really a light form of an IQ test. No one I knew scored more than 2-3 points higher than their original score, and I knew plenty of kids who took the classes and studied for months.

32 and higher
My old roommate and I both had 33s. Ended up only getting TOPS plus $1000 a year. That was just enough to cover the fees and some books. Out of state students with the same GPA and ACT I got would have everything covered including room and board

I went to public school in Mississippi and got over a 28.
