More whites than blacks are in food stamps. Or is the white chock named Laquanda in your scenario.

I mean, now kids in LA are gonna have to do WHAT EVERY OTHER COLLEGE KID IN AMERICA has to do. Please name every other state that has a program similar to TOPS.

I mean it sucks...but it isn't the end of the world.

Preach brother. Screw all that hard work they put in graduating top of their class or in the top 10% and that high ACT. You're on your own now. No assistance for you. But good Ole laquanda on food stamps with 15 kids needs our money

i mean you're comparing apples and oranges

i will all but guarantee you the majority of people saying that there is risk in accepting TOPS do not support our expansive welfare state, either

I'm in grad school baw. Left the state, was awarded an academic scholarship and got in state tuition instead of the double out of state tuition. Nice try though

i went to LSU in the early 00s and it was always in the back of my mind that i may have to move to LC to afford college b/c TOPS was unstable then

I would love it if they cut out certain majors for TOPS before cutting the whole program.

We will pay only for degrees that convert to tax revenue.

I teach mostly seniors at a pretty good high school just outside of Baton Rouge. It really sucks for my some of my students who work their arse off to get one of the higher levels of TOPS, only to have it possibly be not offered in a few months when they graduate.

Now on the flip side, it really pisses me off to hear some of my lazy arse students say things like "I just need to get a few more Ds and Cs and I'll squeak into the bottom tier of TOPS."

I understand what y'all mean about it being racist to tighten the requirements, but shite, it needs to be done. The bare minimum requirements to get TOPS is a complete joke.

This is complete crap and will result in a change to this program that will only help monitories. Middle class kids with working parents will get the shaft
And I don't have any kids in the hunt!

Yeah, but you have to attend Texas A&M. 6-figures isn't worth that shame.

if these government lords were serious about maintaining our education and the program this is the discussion we would be having

but instead we get political theater

What a crock of shite. How do you determine that, Einstein? I have a degree in English Literature. And I pay quite a bit in taxes every year.

I look forward to your list of majors that are on the "out" list.
