Hopefully Fanatics releases them to retailers then, one good thing about panini at least is you can occasionally find them at Target/Walmart. I feel like fanatics might just do drops online like sneaker releases

My year for collecting was 1980. Loved the design of these.

That year was my favorite too.

When these came out in 1989, it was like going from old school tv to high def flat screen tv. I had unopened boxes of high and low series, some Griffey Jr’s, etc.

As a military brat, if I remember correctly the Upper Deck packs were twice that of Topps, Donruss, and Fleer at the PX. They certainly were the most coveted.

Panini is absolutely taking over the sports card industry, bad thing is besides Prizm and Selects (aside from the four figure boxes) their cards are pretty trash quality wise.

I like Panini. I know they get a lot of hate but they put out some amazing cards and the best college branding/jersey cards (which i collect) in the hobby’s history.

This Fanatics news is awful. Everything they touch turns to shite. Now they’ve just become the only show in town.

Excellent question. I haven't looked at them in a very long time... I just dug them out.

Couple Stormin' Norman Schwarzkopf cards
Nolan Ryan autographed card
Wayne Gretzky rookie card. Just kidding, but its a nice Pro Set card
Charles Barkley fleer rookie
Will Clark rookie card with autograph
John Smoltz rookie
Roger Clemens rookie
Pretty much every Bo Jackson card ever made
Topps, Donruss rookies, topps football rookie, etc
Frank Thomas rookie o pee chee
David Robinson hoops rookie
Fleer Ken Griffey jr rookie
Barry Bonds topps rookie
For some reason, a crap ton of Randy Johnson and Deion Sanders rookie cards??
Tom Glavine rookie
Greg Maddox '89 card
Thumbing thru one of the plastic cases, lots Ryne Sandberg, Bash brothers including USA Olympics Mark McGwire, etc..
Emmitt Smith & Aikman rookies
Lots of Nolan Ryan stuff, definitely not rookies
Barry Sanders rookie
Lots of Griffey Jr.
Several mid-late 80s NBA cards mostly MJ, Barkley, Robinson. No MJ rookies.
Bill Ripken frick face card... man, I worked hard on that trade back in the day.

And because I was a stupid kid, I have the first Auburn program with Bo Jackson in it from 1982, and I cut it up to put in a binder page... so I have the cover, ticket stub, etc. Who knew?

I thought I read something about a year ago that Topps was the only card manufacturer left for MLB?

They're the licensed manufacturer. Panini still makes baseball cards just without team/MLB branding

It was awesome buying my first pack each spring and seeing the new design.

Also liked the rack packs where you could see the front and back card so you could look for specific teams or players.

Sounds like a nice collection - are any of them graded?

I once had dreams of my Fleer Griffey Jr or Billy Ripken error card financing my retirement, lol.
The fact that we all had one should have been our first clue.

No, these are from when I was a kid. Most are in protectors and in great shape. Others are in plastic cases or the one binder I kept. I honestly didn’t even know about grading until my kids got into Pokémon. Just gonna leave it in the closet for the next 50 years…
