This is what I see at the VA - WWII, Korea and Nam vet meeting younger Afghanistan and Iraq vet (at the Bonham VA car show last year). I'm not a Vet and the veterans there are always super nice.

You obviously don't know how to deal with people that served. You should've shot back with some smartass remark, that's what vets and current active people know, is constant shite talking. They would've respected you more.

Also, I don't believe any of this actually happened.

Can't stand the look at me WW2 vets.

Almost all WW II vets are over 90 so I doubt they are doing a lot of "look at me" kind of stuff.

Some veterans are somewhat over the top with their stuff, but so are many in the tattoo, piercing, gym workout crowds (and many others) - and at least the veterans did something substantive.

They were probably calling for "Old Pap" - Pap L. O'mivirus.

There are only two things I can't stand in this world...

1.People who are intolerant of other people's cultures

2. Ninety-year-old, half sleeve covered, D-Day Vets, knocking out WODs at the local Crossfit Box with gauges in their ears and telling everyone about their newfound vegan lifestyle!

Believe what you want.

I'm not smart enough to make this up.

Could you imagine him going through sub quals? LOL. They signed Micky and Minnie on my qual card, waaaaaaah

His clothes would end up in the TDU if it were me

My first day on the boat, we had a Radio Division vs A-Div melee in AMR. I got fish-hooked by an A-ganger who seemingly came out of the bilge to get me.

Op's bitcharse would have Theon Greyjoy'd the hell outta there.

Here's the deal. Had to take my uncle to VA for something. I'm sitting in waiting room with a bunch of dudes. ALL OF THEM WEARING THOSE LOOK AT ME IM A VET HATS. some had medals on their vests. Full look at me mode. I'm gracious.

A lot of older vets take pride in wearing their hat or medals. My grandpa fought in WWII and he wasn't the "look at me" type, but he took a lot of pride in being a WWII vet. He would only wear his vet hat when he would be around other vets.. Like if he went to the VA or something. He enjoyed swapping stories with the other guys.

Don't get all cranky because some prideful guys who served our country didn't make you feel like part of the crowd.

But seriously, VA out in Reserve treated my Gramps right until the end. I've never seen more men excited for non alcoholic beer than the WWII and Korean vets there.

Tough Bastards, but you would not know about any of that. When I wear my hat, which is usually, it because I am proud to be part of the 0.4 to 3% of the American Population who have served our Country. (only 7% in WWII)

As far as the ribbons, there are limited days and ways to wear those in the Civilian world but at the VA they can wear them all they want. Seems to me they earned them. Don't know what your problem is but it appears they spotted pretty quickly

On usetafish, it was A Gang and M Div going at it. Each div had 3 or 4 workout buffs. Secret weapon for A Gang was a 5'4 guy who was skinny as a twig, but very good at wrestling and wrapping people up. Actually saw someone get thrown over to an open hatch in AMR2-3L and down her went

Forgot the best part. Someone mounted a Boxing Bell to the bulkhead next to the entrance to AMR.

Walk into an empty AMR, ring the bell and seconds later there are 8 A-gangers with shite-eating grins, cracking their knuckles ready to rumble. Great times
