Lincoln Beach has always been where it's at

water off Long Island and new Jersey is not too cold if you are from Vt or Mich
I used to swim in Lake Mich. dear Lord, the deepest bottom is 39 degrees in late summer. and that water circulates.

I like the Outer Banks of NC, the Gulf beaches of FL and AL, and Southern California beaches. They're all different and appealing for different reasons.

Surf Beach, California.
As seen on Shark Week.

Stinson Beach in NoCal is a cool spot with some shark attack history.

For me it's a toss up between Orange Beach/ Gulf Shores and Destin.
Destin has better restaurants and more oppurtunites for social fun. But I greatly value the fact that Alabama beaches are less crowded and more quiet. I also like that Gulf Shores had a state park.
Alabama has the cleanest beaches in the country. And the Smithsonian thinks they're the best

You ever been to Red Rock beach just south of Stinson? It was one of our favorite places when we lived out there. It's a nudie beach, but it has great bouldering and is amazingly beautiful.

And freeze your arse off on most of the west coast. Hell even in Cabo you can't swim on 90% of the beaches due to currents

The sand and water color are better, Cali kills it with the views and sounds.

And surf. Good points. But most people want to enjoy beach and not just look at it.

How do you enjoy the beach more in Destin than in California? California offers plenty more.
