Yes. But don't worry, you're not alone. I have 4 names, all 4 of which are my grandparents birth last names. Also they gave me the same name as a famous historical figure (off by one letter) that they should have thought otherwise on naming me what they did. No way my parents took more than 5 minutes to come up with my name.

I know a family that gave two boys the same names, just flipping the first and middle.

If you want to honor your family, then one of your grandparents first name should be the middle name of you child.
Idk about multiple children with the same middle name. Never heard of.

I have a set of identical twin students at school who have the same exact name, save for one letter.
Example (not real btw): Mya Jane Smith & Myla Jane Smith. Makes record keeping for them a bitch.
I feel kind of bad for them--not only is their physical identity permanently tied to the other (they didn't have a chance there)--but their mom pretty much ruined any individuality by adding the same middle name for both.

For the men in my family line our middle name is almost as important as our last. We've carried it through a multitude of generations and I have every intention of giving my sons the same middle name.
It ties our family back to our ancestors who traveled with William the Conqueror nearly a thousand years ago, eventually moved to Scotland, and became a quasi influential family for a period of Scottish history.
We still have the family colors and I've had the great pleasure of visiting/touring the castles and lands that still exist today.
