Then why aren't other Texas cities as cool as Austin?

Austin is awesome and the best city in Texas, but

quote:

1. No litter
2. Functional streets that don't require a tank to drive on
8. Blinkers - people use them
9. People don't randomly approach me for money. Though I'm told downtown has a decent amount of homeless (hippie variety)
10. More things to do

these are just flat out false

The Nola defenders will be here soon to discuss the new Walmart in New Orleans East and the new Whole Foods and all the influx of bartenders with college degrees.

There's a gun range a half mile from my apartment

Oh, and luxury apartment complexes...sweet. I'm buying next year but goodbye slum lords.

The best thing about Texas is people that like Texas generally stay in Texas.

I quit waiting tables 6 months after I graduated. I met a 35 y/o Tulane law school graduate who was a career bartender

Lived in Austin for several years. #8 was the biggest adjustment moving back to LA. It makes my blood boil when some douchebag cuts me off without using a blinker. It's nice in Austin, everyone just uses blinkers there.

I mean, I have friends there so I have a good time when I go, but the culture seems very forced by all of the hipsters in town trying to be cool for the sake of being cool. There's stuff to do, but it's generally overrun by all of the cool, alternative kids trying to put everything on instagram. The surrounding area is in fact really nice, but the scenery isn't any better than the swamps around nola, it's just different. Austin does get high marks for the roads and the BBQ, I'll give them that. But the other food I had was underwhelming at best.

The rest of us are very thankful you don't spread that kind of wealth. Keep it in your state.

What is it about the ever present potential to get randomly capped in the head that you do not enjoy about NO?
