Awful.

This blows up any idiot twitter pilot thinking the plane on R1 that departed and was seen on the video could be the plane the Blackhawk crew was watching
Not to mention, that plane would have been a mile or more(?) off to the helo pilot's right...(width of river+length of runway+ distance covered as it comes into view on that video)...
Is that close to accurate?

NBC news reporting at least 4 survivors rescued

That plane would have been on the ground at the south end of R1 when the Blackhawk was scanning for traffic but yeah they were about 1.5 miles away when the collision happened.

People confused reports of bodies recovered from the river as people who were alive being rescued.

There was a post recently that had more audio than we got last night. Good initial traffic call and Helo instructed to pass behind.
All we heard last night was the “do you have the RJ in sight?”

But his reaction/response leaves a lot to be desired.
The man is devoid of empathy. Nobody should be surprised that he instantly politicizes 70 innocent people dying in a tragic accident.

You mean the same way Obama and Biden did after every mass school shooting?

Him saying this would imply he has the ability to convey empathy, when clearly he doesn't.

I think he has empathy, that's been proven, but he also displays narcissistic traits in that he's not able to handle criticism (warranted or not) well and lashes out

Can we all agree to take high ground a leave the political critique to another board or another day? I know he opened the can of worms but let's focus on the air incident here.

Going back to the mention of this being a continuity of government training flight, I had forgotten that about the time of the crash, one of the E6B 'doomsday planes' was landing at nearby Andrews AFB.
It really has nothing to do with the incident other than bad timing, but I wonder if the blackhawk was going to eventually head to Andrews so the "pretend VIP being evacuated" could get on the E6B.
i.e. this was more than just 1 helicopter flying a route and possibly involved many aircraft last night in different areas of DC.

BTW, did OML get himself banned over his comments last night?

They are out there. I experienced it last night. After the crash, my fiancé reached out to one of her sorority sisters in DC with some benign statement of inquiry, and the girl completely snapped, blamed the crash on Hegseth, then devolved into all sorts of TDS inspired non-sequiturs.
