Bought this house in Feb for 316, 2 year old house, 1924sf, 3/2 in Prattville

830.80/yr

Took straight from my escrow statement at closing. I expect it’s going up after it renews next year, everyone else’s has.

Nah they’ll pay policy limits and move down the road, you should be concerned about the o-insurance penalty for a partial loss.

How are you getting these rates? I haven’t been at 3000 since before 2020.

I'm genuinely curious if I'm getting screwed or if this is normal.

Im a first time home buyer last year. My home owners insurance was $1150, through geico/travelers with auto bundle.

This year it is $1763. Is this something I need to budget for every year? Or does it ever "level" out?

Mine is about in the same ballpark as his, adjusted for home value. For whatever reason, insurance rates are lower in BR than some other S LA parishes for homeowners. I suppose less damage from recent hurricanes.

6250 +/- in BR 10,000 +/- Grand Isle camp

Unless the camp is a commercial type hunting/fishing camp with 5 doors and 20 bedrooms, this seems crazy. What’s the replacement value on the structure there? Can’t imagine paying $830 a month just in insurance on what I consider a “camp”. Maybe we have different definitions of the term “camp” If paid for, put the 10 grand a year into an index fund and buy a badass RV in ten years if the camp blows away.

Actually that seems on the low side but value was not listed. I just bound wind on a commercial risk on the coast, $738,000 total value, $29,000.
Bound wind on $1.6 a couple weeks ago at $79,000. Have one renewing in September, $5mil that quoted @$110,000 for wind only last year.
Another Laura or Ida within 10 years and the entire state will be buying La citizen policies.
