I don't know where else they'd put it that would've been better for business.
Near the Convention Center...but that land might not be acquirable.

They opened a second one in Atlanta in a more downtown area. The other is in the burbs just outside the city. It's been open about a year. The wait was 4 hours at 4:30 the other day and they told a guy 6 hours around 6:30. it aint going anywhere

Lol. No. TopGolf's business model has zero to do with college students.
Until of course it comes to a town with 30k base college enrollment.
I dont see it making it in Nola or br to be honest.

I agree with you here, in face New Orleans probably is closer to 40,000 just from Tulane, Loyola, LSU Health Sciences Center, UNO, Xaiver NO (could actually walk) and Dillard.

I've played at both ones in Dallas and it just seems like you really need lot of folks swinging golf clubs and drinking beers to pay for the thing and stay in business.
I love them and hope it comes to la.
I just wouldn't want it to be my money invested in it.

The one in Houston almost always stays crowded...I don't think TG in NOLA would have much trouble getting enough people to come swing golf clubs.
$40 an hour just for the cost of renting the booth (which is almost pure profit since the equipment is re-used over and over for a long time before needing to be replaced). Plus food and drinks that have a big markup. They're going to make a bigly profit at that place.

Are you surprised though? Louisiana is one of the states in this country to be dead last to get anything.

not even close. They are making 20+ million a year in revenue per location(some over double that), with the majority of that being booze sales(10-20% cost).
6-10 million in cost to build plus land usually.

It ain't going to be a quick recoup by any means....

The appeal of Top Golf is what makes it so successful. You can be Susie homemaker who has never touched a Golf club and still have a good time. When I lived in ATL, the Alpharetta location had waits of 3 1/2 hours on weekends and people were in the bar drinking just waiting for a stall.
We have had several business outings at the Allen location, and I can promise you that place stays busy.

I think the success of places like Barcadia, Rock n Bowl, and Fulton Alley prove that bars combined with gaming can be successful in Nola

What's the beer selection like at these places?

I went to TopGolf for the first time this weekend in Austin. Having never hit a golf ball before, I had a blast, and started whooping the guys asses. It was kinda off the beaten path in Austin, but it was PACKED.
I am not sure what better location people think NOLA could offer up, I think the Times Picayune building would be pretty cool seeing downtown from a distance, and it's not like it's a horrible drive IMO. You need a place with a lot of space and a huge parking area.
I also think the NOLA Market is great for it, we saw so many different walks of life out in Austin at it.

This sounds a little far fetched.
