Don't make a special trip to Round Rock Doughnuts.
That was the one place I felt I had to go, since it's right outside of Austin. I didn't really see what the big deal is, taste just like doughnuts here.

Nothing, Austin sucks. Just stay home.

I went a few years back with a large group. If you're with a large group, eating at The Salt Lick was a pretty good experience with pretty decent food for us. My buddy from Austin consistently refers to it as "the third best barbecue in Austin," always recommending Uncle Billy's first (and probably the better option for a group with fewer than 35 people where BYOB/ice chest and all you can eat delivered to the table aren't necessarily pluses)

Chuys (the original) texmex - Think it's on Barton springs. I don't know if it's really that great or it's just nostalgia for me. I've been eating there for almost 30 years. Try the Sangria margaritas.
Salt lick (outside of Austin) Texas bbq- atmosphere is great, BBQ is ok. (Stubbs is better BBQ IMO) go on a Saturday. Used to be BYOB, not sure if that's still the case.
Head southwest From there and visit some really pretty scenery in the hill country. See some of the devastation from the flooding in and around Wimberley (eat at the cypress creek cafe- order the black bean taco)
Head south on rr12, when you hit the junction, there's a nice winery "can't remember the name) good wines and good atmosphere
Continue west and drive the devil's backbone. Gorgeous drive, Watch out for motorcycles. When the scenery stops, Turn around and head east through San Marcos and head back north up 35 back to Austin.
ETA: I know you said IN Austin but in my opinion, what makes Austin great is the stuff just outside of it.

If you don't mind making the drive, it's about 40 minutes to Jacob's Well IIRC

That's in wimberley too and its cool as shite but I don't think you can get back to it yet. They're still doing a lot of cleanup.

not exclusive to Austin, but it has a Top Golf which can be nice to play a few games and have some beers.

I went to it during a road trip to Austin in April. What's going on with it?
ETA: Never mind, got it.

June floods down the blanco, cypress creek and wood creek did a lot of damage to the area.

Sure if you have plenty of time, but go to La Barbecue.
Salt Lick is no where near the level of those two.

Swing by Ms. P's Electric Cock on South Congress for some of the best fried bird you've ever had.
