You're saying that you can't adequately police criminals without allowing jackbooted thugs to abuse the citizenry. Just own it.
Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying.
I'm also saying that the amount of "jackbooted thugs" as you call them isn't nearly as big as you'd like it to be. Police corruption and brutality isn't really a big problem. Of course it's a big person to the very few people it actually happens to, but it's not a problem for society as a whole. The data just doesn't support that conclusion. Crime is the problem, not the cops.

And this information age when every local story is easily accessible nationwide doesn't help the policy's cause. Every singular event is applied to every force in the country.
I've had my run ins with bad cops. Far more encounters with good ones. But the bad are the only ones I can recall years later.

I'd prefer not forfeit essential liberty for a bit of temporary safety, but you do you

Maybe if you guys spent half the energy praising the good cops out there instead scouring the internet for the bad apples
Funny thing about that is 9 times out of 10 these "good cops" are lining up on that thin blue line to defend their bad apple buddies the moment they do something wrong. Most police forces are just legalized gangs.

they do all that for shite pay. No wonder the police is full of undertrained idiots. No intelligent, stand up citizen would take that job.
This I somewhat agree with. I'd take it a step further and say that the people most likely to take police jobs are the idiot bullies that peaked in high school and they want to make themselves feel better by making the public "respect their authoriti". Power is the ultimate drug to these people and they'll do whatever it takes to get that high again.
The problems in law enforcement and the justice system in America are just symptoms of a decaying society.

If it really wasn’t personal and he apologized the “victim” is kind of being a dick here by not letting it go.
Why?
The lawsuit isn't personal either.

I would be livid if someone was pointing a gun at me period, and just assuming I need to be forced to the ground when just minding my own business. Anyone on here who says different is a liar.
The cop kicking that dude deserves charges. POS small dick.

Ignoring that many cops are clearly criminals, that has nothing to do with this thread. Calling out a pos cop is the right thing to do. That doesn't mean every cop is a pos. In this case, and in many others, the cop is the problem.
Coming in and asking that cops be praised for being adequate, or just not actively awful, is weird, especially since you're telling us we should totally ignore when they suck. We don't typically start conversations about adequate work when it comes to other occupations. Did you see that firefighter not ignore the fire today? Holy shite, did that finance bro just sell some stock? I just saw a tiktok of a dental hygienist cleaning teeth!

it was completely unnecessary at that point imo.

That’s how our brains are typically wired. We remember who wrongs us in order to not get wronged again.

Seems he has always worked in reduced capacity……….mental capacity, that is.
