Which is why it’ll be hilarious when they lost even more funding to home schooling. Schools get funds based on enrollment numbers as well.

Apply for FMLA if you need actual accommodation.

To be frank, I really don’t feel like you’d disagree with me if you knew the shite we’ve dealt with here.

A bunch of 18 year olds saying “I feel sick” when they’re hungover and getting a note.

Get a doctor to sign off on FMLA if it’s real and you have an actual condition. You can get intermittent FMLA for conditions where you need actual accommodation for.

Yea this is 1000% bullshite from the district office to get better funding. They need to find a better way to handle funding than just raw attendance numbers.

In Kansas it’s incredibly stupid there’s a “count day” and whatever your attendance is that day is what the building attendance is set for the year. School I work at was listed at like 985 or something like that when we really had 1015 or so in the building. Thankfully were not on the line for being up or down classifications or anything like that but I imagine there’s at least a school or two that get boned by this every year.

I thought schools in the south were all about parents know best.

Of course. But 17... that's a massive jump.

17 is definitely a lot

Perspective, it’s easy for strep, flu, or covid to bounce a week. Say you get 2 of those and a couple days for family stuff and you may have blown past the benchmark here

It’s silly to have it at like 7-8 days if the school nurse can send you home and count against it

Flip side, the court case is probably a pretty quick check in if you aren’t a complete clown about things

That is massive overreach. Missing 17 days is alot, but my kids miss a good bit of days because we take vacations.

You should be able to miss as many days as you want. If a kid misses a third of the school year but still does the work and passes the tests, he knows the material. arse in seat rules are retarded. My school district made kids attend one Saturday a few years back because of too many snow days. The teachers didn't teach anything. They told the kids they could come in PJs and bring their electronics. Everyone had to go to school on Saturday because of an idiotic and arbitrary rule.

I kept my kids home that day.

I had perfect attendance up until the middle of my 7th grade year. Hospitalized for two days because they thought I had meningitis.

100% chance a lawsuit comes from this. Especially if you have a kid that ends up with a communicable disease like whooping cough that the county’s health department requires them to stay home.

This kind of shite drove us nuts before we ditched the public skrewl.

Email arrives

“Your child has been coughing a lot in class. Reminder to keep them home if they are sick”

— Teacher XYz

6 weeks later a letter arrives

“Your child is missing too much school, it is critical that they are here every day”

—Administration

See, you can’t trust doctors. Public school administrators are the best experts, especially when they are chasing those state and federal funds.
