Tires. I hate buying tires. I know how important they are and I know a quality tire is well worth the money over a cheap one. I just hate when I have to spend $500 on them.

I’m not an OT baller and don’t pretend to be. I drive an 2010 Accord, it that lets you know where I stand on the baller scale.

But it’s that time, need a set of tires. Probably only going to buy 2 but may take Peo Boys up on the buy 3 get one free deal. Is it worth it to buy online amd just pay the tire shop to put them on? I know that seemed popular for awhile but don’t hear much about it anymore.

What brand is the best VALUE. I want to drive this car for another 50k so I expect to get the life of the tire out of it. Not asking for the cheapest but I respect quality. What ya got for me, OT. Any advice before I get that feeling in my stomach after paying for a root canal? It’s a very similar feeling to buying tires.

The best budget tires I ever got was a brand called Thunderer. Apparently Cooper owns them from what I have heard.

I always go to Mavis. They have never disappointed me on service or price.

I've never seen when those "buy 3 get 1 free" deals are actually a good deal. Even if they make it look like the tires are 75% of what 4 would cost, they jack up the installation "fees".

That’s been my experience as well. In the end, you end up within $10 of if it wouldn’t have been free somewhere else.

I’m in Houston, by the way but I’m likely going to BR in the next week or two so if that’s where a deal is, I can do it then/there.

Interesting. I used to always buy Cooper because someone told me that they were the best American made tire for the money. Goodyear is always overpriced.

Go online to every national tire store that's in your town. They all run different specials at different times of the year. Put your car info in, and price shop each one on their current specials. Pay attention to the fine print on the Buy 3, Get 1 free promotions as sometimes they require you purchase an extended warranty which negates that savings.

Once you find a decent tire at a fair price, you can sometimes get a more convenient shop to price match. I think NTB price matched, maybe Discount Tire does.

Any decent brand tire should last you 50k miles if you rotate and balance them regularly. Most tire shops offer free rotation and balance for the life of the tires.

Cooper is hands down the best. Been using them since the 90s.

Costco always has a $70 off a set with free installation. Usually Michelin or another good brand

I bought my last two sets of tires from Sams. Service was great, I ordered exactly what I wanted and I saved an average of about $250. And there’s no hidden nonsense, they include balance and rotation in the install price.

might as well upgrade to like a 2015 or 16 and get your new tires that way. Your trade in can be the down payment.

I don’t have a Costco membership but maybe I should use the opportunity to get one. Where I moved from didn’t have a Costco so no need it for it before. Plus, no kids so I don’t buy grocery in bulk. Think it’s still wotrth the membership?

My F-150 has the factory Bridgestone tires with 93K miles.

I would say there’s some value right there.

Discount Tires can probably get you under $450. Or go to McDonalds(two locations in Baton Rouge).
They'll hook you up for about $400 total. I drove an 07 Accord and now drive 14 Accord so I'm pretty sure that's a ball park price on cheaper tires with a 50k mile rating.

I got Mr. Tire to match Monro's 'buy 3 get 1 free' offer, and Mr. Tire's per tire price was lower. So, I got the lower price and 1 free.

Mine came with Hankook tires. There's no way I'll get 93k out of them though. Maybe 50.
