We have a Shetland pony who suffers on these stuffy summer days.

Any tips to keep her cool?

I just googled "How big is a Shetland Pony" so in my professional opinion, I think you should bring it inside your house. Forever.

She is also an outside dog. Want to keep it that way.

I wet my dogs down when we walk in Summer. Maybe the pony would benefit from that, too.

You want tips for dog care, but have a shetland pony?

I think you want to start with the obvious. Make sure he/she always has fresh water available and shade around. Maybe spray her down with the hose..

Good one.

Cut out on the horse play during the day.

Neighbors in NOLA who had huskies had a door into their garage that was people sized, and in that door they installed a dog door large enough for the three of them. That garage had a cement floor and maybe one window. The dogs pretty much lived there during the day.

The other thing was he had set up a watering system where the water went into a bowl and had a 'livestock' float on it so when they drank it down, it filled itself back up. (And every freeze we'd call and tell him when it thawed out and was spraying both our yards from its broken coupling.)
